Exploring the city

"Take their bodies out of here. We will bury them properly somewhere else or bandits will catch up to us"

John broke the silence quietly ordering others while he started searching for money. He picked it with the dagger and when he turned around he saw Leo's first landing on his face.

"You! It's all your fault! Your fault! If only we stayed obediently and waited for the auction none of this would have happened! Now my brother is dead! He was against doing it but still died! It's your fault!"

Leo landed punch after punch on John while talking and after he ended what he had to say he threw himself on the ground crying. When Thomas and Arthur saw that Leo stopped and won't kill John, they started walking out of the valley with Finn's body.

'None of this would have happened... He's right If only I would have thought about something safer. Something that won't put others at risk... And now they're both dead, killed by this bastard with me as his accomplice in this murder.'

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!"

John started swearing and punching ground around him. After a while, he felt someone grabbing his arm.

"John, stop it. We need to bring back another body before others come here. You said it yourself. I will stay with Leo and you will help Thomas to bring the body back."

Arthur couldn't bear to see John in this state and decided to stop him. Staying with Leo was also a good idea since no one knew what will he do while alone in this state. John got up without talking, he was looking at his feet. When they were walking out of the alley with another body girls screams could be heard from the side where they were staying. It was the second time they saw a body being taken away from this valley. Now they weren't even sure if they killed their target. Seeing their horrified expressions John felt even worse.

"Someone call for Thomas and Leo. Tell them that bandits will find us here if we don't move now."

Soon Thomas and Leo came out of the valley, picked up the body and then they moved in opposite direction bandits went. When they were at the cemetery they found a free place and placed the bodies here.

"We will bury them tomorrow. We don't have enough strength to dig out a hole big enough for a body let alone two. Now, we should sleep somewhere here, it may seem horrible but if we won't stay in such places we will be found by the bandits in no time."

John told what he had to say and moved away, laid down on the ground and called asleep.

'John it's your fault, look we are dead now' John's parents appeared in his dream.

'John look here, we are laying just a few meters away from you, come here'

Finn and Like turned their he'sd in his direction and started to pull him closer.

"Aah!"

John woke up and saw that it was still dark.

'You won't let me go huh? All right, since I already woke up I will go and bury you.'

John walked around the cemetery in search of a shovel. After finding something similar to it he got back and started digging a grave big enough to keep two people inside. By the time he ended burying those two, the sun was already rising.

'It seems that they will sleep for a while now. I will search for a bakery and buy us something to eat. I'm really curious about the prices here too.'

After walking in the direction of the market. After getting there he asked people staying here for direction and finally got there. House of the baker was looking better than the other ones but was still wooden. After knocking for a while doors opened and a man with brown beard and without hairs on his head.

"What do you want, kid?"

When he saw that some kid was coming to him so early in the morning he got a little annoyed.

"How much for the cheapest bread?"

"It depends on how fresh you want it to be, from today or yesterday"

"Yesterday."

"Then one bronze coin for 2 whole pieces of bread."

"What if I want to buy 3?"

"It will cost you 2 bronze coins anyway"

"Ok, then I will get 4 for 2 coins"

After getting what he wanted and cautiously getting back to the cemetery John saw that everyone was already awake.

"I bought us some food"

John started to break all pieces of bread into half and gave it to everyone. It was easy to see how hungry they were since even Leo started to eat despite hating John so much.

"So, what are we going to do now? You told us that you have a plan."

After everyone ate what they had Clara decided to finally ask the question everyone was curious about.

"We will send one person every day to each of the gates while others will stay here the whole day and one person will go and buy bread every morning and evening for us to eat. We've got 20 bronze coins left so we won't take any risks for three days by then, even if bandits are still in the city we will need to make a move. I will look around in the meantime and search for a job that will help us last more time. Advice for people who will watch the gates is to remember that escape is a safer choice than fighting. If there are two normal bandits following you then you can go to the cemetery and we should be able to take care of them but when you are chased by more remember to choose a cemetery as your last option."

"W-wait, you are asking as to just sit here the whole day? What should we do in this time?"

"I don't know, tonight I will guide you around the city so you should sleep today, as for tomorrow if I were you I would have done some exercises or something like this since our lives, even if less than before, will still be tough. If someone else will watch the gates then I can tell you some stories from my village that I think are interesting. Now as I said before, you should all go to sleep. I will watch the surroundings for the first half of our rest and then Arthur will change me."

"Why me?!"

"Come here and I will explain it to you"

John gestures to Arthur to come closer and then whispered into his ear quietly.

"Thomas killed someone yesterday, we don't know how he's feeling right now, as for Leo, he won't listen to me since he's blaming me for the death of his brother. Don't worry, tomorrow will be their turn"

"You are right, John! Then wake me up later since I need to go to rest now."

Just as everyone started to fall asleep and John wanted to start his training he heard footsteps behind him. When he turned around he saw Thomas who was walking in his direction.

"Hey, John would you like to work out together? I saw you once and thought that your way of training is interesting."

'So he is still awake'

John smiled and said.

"Sure, why not?"
