"Why did you lie to me?" he asked her bitterly. And instead of saying anything, Emily stayed quiet, as she was too ashamed to open her mouth to try and explain herself. "How did you get a hold of my mother's locket?" He asked once more.
One look at Angelo's angry eyes, and Emily knew that it was best that she begin talking before Angelo lost the last of his temper.
"I'm not lying to you; I took it from the lady who bought me flowers that day. I tried to run after her, but she was already gone," Emily explained.
Angelo walked towards her, and Emily began stepping back until she had hit the wall. There was no place to run and hide, and Angelo was slowly closing in on her. By the time Angelo stopped in front of her, there was less than a meter of space between them and no place for Emily to run and hide.
