Empty

The couple got inside the covers and turned off the lights.

"Good night my dear!" Said the man. For some reason her heart panged again. This was the second time, why did she felt so uneasy today.

"Good night!" Replied Jo.

Due to the extensive activity she executed that day, Jo feel asleep instantly. The night passed in a flash and it was already morning. After a few tosses and turns on the bed she finally opened her eyes. Why is there so much space where is Ye Ze? She asked herself. To her surprise the bed was empty. Jo went to the bathroom and washed up. It was such a silent morning. She then dressed up and exited the bedroom. Lu Ye Ze was no where to be found, had he gone out? A navy box that was placed on the dining table, grabbed Jo's attention. She went towards it and opened it.

Shock enveloped her in the next second. Inside the box, there was her passport, a credit card, a business card and a ring. What did this mean. Had he left her. Jo collapsed on the floor, the box falling from her hand at the same time. The objects scattered everywhere.

"Why?... Did he abandoned me"

The pain in her heart, has now intensified ten fold. Was this the reason why she felt so uneasy, was he going to leave her behind. How could he do this without any warning. Yesterday was their last day together, Jo felt that she missed something, she missed her goodbye, she hadn't said her goodbye to him and her heart was now hurt. For some reason, Jo felt abandoned rather then set free.

"Why? Why am I feeling like this, what is wrong with me..."

Jo fell pensive, she remained in the same spot for a long time, she didn't want to leave, maybe he would come back. It was 6pm already and Jo's stomach started grumbling, she was thinking she should eat something, when a sound of a key turning in to the lock, was heard at the door.

Jo hastily got up from the floor and run towards the door. To her surprise a woman just came in.

"Bonjour!" Greeted the woman startled.

Jo looked at her and couldn't utter a word, her words were trapped in her neck and she felt like she was suffocating.

After an awkward silence Jo finally asked.

"Tu es?..."

"La femme de chambre! Le Monsieur a demandé mes services!"

"Quand?"

"Hier de matin!"

"Mn... ça va!"

By now Jo understood that this has been his plan all along, he basically brought her home. Jo felt her life had turned empty, she felt like her body dissipated into the thin air and she had turned invisible... she was no one.

That night Lu Ye Ze couldn't fall asleep, he didn't want to. He was admiring the asleep girl in silence, her steady breathing and her calm spirit, made him want to stop the time and turn this moment into a still photograph, along with her.

It was 3am already, he was supposed to board the plane a long time ago, but he just couldn't part ways with her. His phone flashed with a notification and awoken him from his deep thoughts. Tears started forming in his eyes, he leaned closer to her and kissed her on her soft cherry lips.

"Goodbye my love, I hope I'll meet you again in our next life!" He whispered into her ear and then left.
