He waited until Jude showed up, though that only took another minute or two after Maury hung up. Maury had sent him along even before he’d called, obviously. Which meant this was serious.

Shane vowed to shove the tip back in Lucky’s face before the night was through.

Televisions blared over the sports bar as he passed it on his way to Security. Most of them were set to some sort of game, but the one on the end was tuned to the evening news. Shane glanced up at it as he passed. Another accident on the Strip. He shook his head. The road was the worst hazard in the city. Tourists gawked as they drove through, or as they walked along the sidewalk, and never paid attention to where they were going. The city had one of the highest incident rates in the nation for cars running red lights, but did tourists ever hear any of that before it was too late? No. And now somebody else had died for it.
