Chapter 16

“I wish I could go shopping,” she said, gazing wistfully at the shops lining the upper level. “I haven’t gone in nearly a week now.”

“Come on.” He tugged gently on her arm, pulling her to the bank of elevators. “We can still do some window shopping. Lydia probably has a new shipment in by now. And if you fall in love with something, we’ll just take it. It’s not like anybody in security will see us.”

She’d never shoplifted in her life, and while the prospect of shopping filled her with a new sense of excitement, she wasn’t entirely thrilled about not paying for what caught her eye. Silently, she vowed to write down the price of everything and give the list to Shane. He’d find some way of getting the money to Lydia. He was always resourceful that way.
