''

You jerked away, sitting up fast enough to make you momentarily dizzy. You glanced at the clock sitting on the night stand. The numbers flashed red, 3 a.m. You gave up trying to sleep and swung your legs over the side of the bed. For a moment you just sat there, staring at the floor.

"Who the hell is Lilith?" You muttered to yourself.

You shuffled to the kitchen, turning on the coffee maker, as you stared out the window above the sink. It was always a different dream, but always the same name. You didn't understand it. You spent the morning lost in your thoughts, so much so that you were almost late for work. The day dragged on far to slow for liking and by the end of it you were drained.

'' You thought to yourself.

~

You walked down the stairs of the night club, watching drunk and wasted people grinding against each other. This wasn't a place you frequented, but wanted to drown your dreams in expensive and good booze. You made your way to the bar, bumping into a few people a long the way.

"A whiskey please." You called to the bar tender once you finally found a stool to sit on.

He nodded to you and walked off to get it. You stared at the lights reflecting in the mirror behind the bar. You couldn't stop replying your dream in your mind. It's the first time you had seen that man in any of dreams. Yet he was so familiar, like you had known him for a very long time.

"Are you going to drink that? If not then it probably wasn't a very good idea to order it darling." A voice teased.

You blinked, looking down. Your drink sat in front of you and you frowned. You hadn't even notice the bar tender give it to you.

"Yeah, sorry, lot on my mind I guess." You muttered.

You turned your head to look at the man and your eyes widened. It was the same man from your dream. He seemed just as surprised to see you.

"Lilith! I haven't seen you a few centuries. My this is certainly a surprise. I'm not sure Maze will be quite as thrilled as me though." He mused.

You frowned, there was that name again. Why did he call you that? He must have noticed your confusion because his smile slowly fell.

"Are you alright? You're looking at me as if we've never meant before."

"We haven't, I'm sorry but you have me confused with someone else."

Now he was looking confused and narrowed his eyes a little.

"Lucifer."

You pressed your lips together, shaking your head.

"Lucifer Morningstar, come now surely you remember me."

You only shrugged. He frowned and stared at you a moment. His gaze was so intense that you had to look away.

"You really don't remember me... what about Mazikeen? Your other children?"

You were surprised your neck didn't snap with how fast you turned your head to look at him.

"I don't have ! You're crazy, and I'm done entertaining the notion that you actually know me."

You stood up, slamming money down on the bar paying for your drink, that you never even touched. You went to walk away, but Lucifer grabbed your arm.

"Lilith wait!"

You jerked your arm, the name made your head hurt as if something was blocking you from remembering why that name made your chest tight.

"My name is Y/N! Not Lilith! I don't know you and I don't have kids!" You hissed.

You started walking away but what he said next made you pause mid-step.

"Has trouble found you again darling?"

Your dream, it was almost the exact same thing he had said in your dream.

"What?"

He smiled, seemingly realizing he had spiked your curiosity.

"I asked if trouble found you again my dear. You're always caught up in something whether you want to be or not, it's a rather unfortunate gift of yours."

''

You wanted to listen to that little voice of reason, really you did. A bigger part of you screamed at you to listen to him, hear him out.

"If you'd like, we can go to my penthouse. Talk more privately." Lucifer offered.

You slowly nodded and let him drag you along. You took a moment to admire his home once you had stepped out of the elevator. He didn't fail to notice how you kept a short distance away from him.

"I don't bite, well not hard anyway." He winked.

You smiled a little, but still stayed practically on the other side of the room. Lucifer poured himself a drink, offering you one, but you declined.

"Right, so what you remember?" He asked.

"What are you a detective?" You raised an eyebrow.

"Of sorts, I'm quite good at solving problems, and if history is any evidence, I'm especially good at solving your problems." Lucifer said smugly.

You smiled again probably more than you'd ever smiled before, at least from what you could remember.

"Cocky are we?"

"Very much so yes. Now back to my question, last thing you remember."

You shrugged, sighing a little.

"I don't know, I woke up in an alley five years ago, alone and no idea who or where I was. I couldn't find anything about me or my life, so I made a new one. New life, new name, fresh start I guess. If I even needed a fresh start in the first place."

It was all you could offer him, you honestly had no other clues to your previous life. Lucifer nodded slowly, and he was silent for a moment, lost in his thoughts. In fact, he was silent for so long that when he finally spoke again it made you jump.

"We'll just have to try to jog your memory then!"

"Try what exactly?" You asked skeptically.

"Everything! Family bonding with Maze, maybe we'll see if you remember your occasional burning hatred for Amenadiel."

"Occasional?"

Lucifer waved a hand dismissively.

"Yes, bit odd your relationship with him, I'd call it frenemies but the two of you hated each other most of the time."

You only half listened to him rant, watching him pace slightly as he spouted off various ideas.

"And why are you helping me?"

Lucifer stared at you, as if he was trying to figure out the right words to label your relationship with him.

"Because, and this may come as a shock to you, you and I were close at one point. Very close in fact, and I want you to remember that about us."

"If it doesn't work? If my memories never come back?"

Lucifer smiled, holding his hand out for you to shake.

"Then it is very nice to meet you Y/N, and I look forward to getting to know you my dear."
