Summary: You didn't have much luck with past relationships, and with an on going divorce thrown into the mix, you had no desire to date or anything of the sort. Unfortunately this man is relentless, and your resistance and excuses were beginning to wear out.

............................................................

You typed away at your keyboard, your eyes focused solely on the screen in front of you. Ever since you had begun to show in your pregnancy you were assigned to desk work by the Lieutenant. You wanted nothing more than to be back in the field, but you chose not to complain.

"Stay there Lucifer, I don't need the suspects Lawyer filling for a mistrial because you tormented his client in interrogation."

Your attention was torn away from your work and drawn to Chloe's desk. Although you hadn't interacted much with detective Decker you knew she and her partner did good work. Speaking of her partner he had noticed your staring and was approaching your desk.

Although new to the LA PD you had heard plenty about the crime fighting devil of Los Angeles. In fact ever since you had arrived he seemed particularly interested in you, talking to you, sitting with you any chance he got. He was almost to your desk, and you panicked a little more.

"Lucifer!"

You nearly sighed in relief when Chloe walked out of the interrogation room and yelled for him. You watched them leave before giving your attention back the task at hand.

The hours seemed to drag on and on as you typed furiously at the keys. Your eyes had begun to hurt from staring at the screen for so long. You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose as you closed your eyes for a moment. When you opened them you nearly screamed to see Lucifer Morningstar standing by your desk.

"My apologies, I didn't mean to startle you."

You waved a hand dismissively rubbing your tired eyes.

"I just didn't know you were standing there." You muttered.

Lucifer sat down on the chair beside your desk, and you raised an eyebrow in question.

"Did you need something? Did Chloe send you over?"

"No, I've noticed how stressed you've been, I was wondering if you'd like to take a break, stressing can't be good for a mother to be."

Lucifer glanced at the photos on your desk, seeing a photo of a young boy in a wheelchair. There were several photos of you and him but didn't seem to be any of the boy's father. You followed his gaze and stared at your oldest son in the pictures.

"He lost his legs in a car crash a few years ago, his father found it too hard to deal with having a son who can't walk. Doesn't want anything to do with the baby either." You said bitterly as you pushed your chair out, standing.

"I didn't mean to pry, I was unaware how poorly your marriage was right now." Lucifer frowned.

"What marriage? He wants a divorce and I don't want a man like him near my children." You muttered.

Lucifer followed you as you walked over to the break room, opening the fridge to grab a bottle of water.

"You have yet to answer my question darling." Lucifer reminded you.

"I'm single mom with a thirteen-year old boy at home and a baby on the way."

Lucifer frowned and stopped you with a hand on your arm.

"That doesn't matter to me Y/N, why would that change the fact that I'm interested in you?"

You gave him a tired smile.

"It was a nice offer Lucifer really, but I'm not really looking to get involved with anyone."

You walked away before he could say anything. Lucifer watched you go, sighing a little. He made his way back to Chloe's desk.

Lucifer kept a watchful eye on you throughout the day. He knew you stressing about everything wasn't good for your pregnancy. When he saw a man approach your desk with a young boy following behind him in a wheelchair he focused his full attention on you.

"Hey mom."

You smiled at your son, as he moved his chair closer to you.

"Did you sign the papers yet?" The man sounded impatient.

You looked up from where you were sitting, and stood, refusing to have him look down at you.

"Signed, mailed, and ready to be finalized, and the sooner you're out of our lives the better."

The man shrugged as if he couldn't  care less.

"Well it's better than having a gimp son and a child I didn't even want."

Rage boiled in your veins and you had to resist the urge to slap him.

"Not like we need you around anyway, deadbeat." Your son muttered under his breath.

Your ex-husband, didn't seem hear him but you did, and you squeezed his shoulder a little, suppressing a smile.

"Is everything alright over here?"

You turned your head to see Lucifer walking over. You didn't miss the way your son glanced at him. Your soon to be ex-husband on the other hand began to look a little nervous.

"Yep, dad's just trying to start something with mom."

Lucifer looked down at your son, smirking a little at the remark.

"Is that so? Trying to start a fight with a pregnant lady, that's a special kind of revolting isn't it?" Lucifer chuckled.

Your son nodded in agreement and tugged on Lucifer's shirt. Said Devil leaned knelt down to be eye level with him.

"Mom has no plans tonight, she's wanted to go to that new restaurant that just opened, but don't let her get anything with garlic it makes her sick."

Your face flushed and then turned very red when Lucifer looked at you.

"Alex!" You hissed.

"It's true mom! You need a night out, and I'm thirteen, I can stay home alone, dad will drop me off."

You stuttered out protests, but Alex was already moving towards the elevator with your ex-husband in toe. In fact your husband seemed eager to get away from Lucifer, who was staring him down. You stood there frozen to the spot and nervously chewing your lip.

"Well it seems to me you're out of excuses my dear."

You sighed a little but that didn't mean you weren't looking forward to it.

Sure enough Lucifer had indeed taken you to the restaurant your son suggested. Lucifer was a perfect gentleman, pulling the chair out for you, listening to anything you were talking about.

"I'm sorry, I've been talking almost the whole time." You apologized.

"That's quite alright love, I'd much rather hear what you have to say more than I'd like to talk. I'm genuinely curious to hear how this story ends." Lucifer smiled.

When the two of you ordered food you noted that Lucifer only ordered water.

"No wine? You seem like the kind of man to have wine in a place like this."

He looked up from his food at you and gave you a charming smile.

"You are unable to drink, it wouldn't be very fair if I did darling."

You looked back down at your plate, picking at your food with a smile. When the date ended Lucifer drove you home, helping you out of the car and walking you to the door.

"I hope that date wasn't to horrible." Lucifer joked.

"I had fun Lucifer, really I did."

You gave his cheek a quick peck, as you hovered in the door way.

"And if you want to go out again, I'd love to go with you."

"Next week then?"

He sounded hopeful and your smile grew.

"I'd like that."
