You clung to Lucifer's leg, eyes watering as you stood outside the door to the grand mansion in front of you. Although it was beautiful and enchanting, nothing but horrible memories filled the dreary place.

"Why can't I stay with you?"

Lucifer felt his chest tighten as he looked down at his daughter. He wanted nothing more than to take you with him, take you away from a mother who ran to the bottle and spent most of her time with a needle in her arm. However, she came from money, came from a family of lawyers and judges, and he was lucky he even had any custody rights to you.

"I'm afraid it's just the way it has to be right now, but I will see you next weekend." He smiled sadly.

You grabbed his pant leg tighter, and turned your head when you heard the front door open. Your mother stood on the other side, her hair and makeup perfect as always and her expression cold and dead.

"You're late." She snapped.

She grabbed your arm, jerking you away from your father as she pulled you inside. Lucifer's anger flared, and he placed a hand on the door, preventing her from closing it.

"Let me remind you that if I find one mark, even the tiniest scratch on Y/N, I will be coming after you." Lucifer warned lowly.

Your mother stepped back, a brief look of fear flashing across her face. She quickly closed the door, and Lucifer sighed.

Lucifer had spent the following week living his life like he usually did. He'd try to call, to talk to you, to check on you but as always your mother would say you were fine and hang up before he could say anything more.

"Dreadful woman." He scowled as he stared at his phone.

Lucifer slipped his phone back into the inner pocket of his suit jacket and turned to walk into the precinct. He was unaware of what was really going on, or why your mother was so eager to get him off the phone.

You watched your mother tie the belt around her arm. Although you were still too young to understand what she was doing you knew it wasn't good. You watched her put the needle in her arm and slowly push the plunger down. When she saw you looking she motioned for you to leave with a scowl on her face. You did so without arguing. If you had tried to she probably would have yelled at you again.

It's what you told yourself every day, in hopes that eventually your mother would stop telling you how she despised you. Or that is was your fault Lucifer didn't want to be with her anymore. However, as the hours dragged on, and the sky got darker and darker you began to worry.

Where was your mom? Why haven't you seen her?

"Mommy?"

You took a cautious step into the living room, the marble floors felt cool on your tiny feet. You tried to wake her, tried to get any response out of her. Yet your mother never woke, she laid on the couch, pale and cold.

"Ok why are you so antsy today?"

Lucifer looked up from his phone, another text going unanswered, and the pit in his stomach grew larger.

"Antsy, whatever do you mean Detective?" He raised an eyebrow.

"You're acting weird... well weirder."

Lucifer opened his mouth to reply but his phone started ringing. He was quick to answer it, walking away for some privacy.

"Y/N? What's wrong?"

He sped down the streets of LA, weaving in and out of traffic recklessly. He couldn't seem to drive fast enough though. When he finally arrived at the mansion he left the car running and hurried into the house. He looked around frantically, sighing in relief when he saw you standing beside a cop.

"There you are!"

When you saw your father you broke free of the officer's grasp and ran to him. Lucifer picked you up, holding you tightly. The officer frowned walking over to the two of you.

"Sir who are you?"

Lucifer fixed him with a chilling glare.

"I'm her father you imbecile, why did you have her?"

The officer took a small almost unnoticeable step back. Lucifer knew the poor man was just doing his job, but he couldn't help the protective feeling he had upon seeing your tearful expression.

"Don't let them take me." You muttered.

"Take you? Where were you planning on taking my daughter?" Lucifer demanded.

"We... we didn't know there was anyone else to take care of her, her grandparents refused to take her in." The officer swallowed.

"Of course they did, those horrid people are days away from fossilizing, I doubt they even have any love left in their shriveled hearts." Lucifer scoffed.

He turned to walk away with you in his arms, but the officer stopped him. The man looked increasingly more nervous under Lucifer's cold gaze.

"We need her to come to the station with us, we need to ask her some questions."

Lucifer raised an eyebrow at the officer, frowning a little.

"You are aware she is five, yes?"

"Yes but-"

"And it is very late is it not?"

"Yes sir but-"

"Then I'm sure this can all wait until tomorrow. Have a wonderful night officer!" Lucifer smiled.

He walked out before the officer could protest anymore.

"Why are we checking on him again? It's Lucifer, he always acts strange." Dan sighed.

Chloe, who had been concerned and suspicion of Lucifer's behavior yesterday had convinced Dan and Ella to come with him to check on him. Ella happily agreed while Dan took a little more convincing.

"He wasn't acting right, he seemed really stressed about something." Chloe explained.

The elevator doors slid open, and they were meant with a surprising sight. Lucifer sat on the couch watching a little girl draw a picture as she sat on the ground in front of the table. He smiled when she pointed to something on the picture.

"It's beautiful, my little spawn."

You turned around to start coloring again but paused when you saw three people standing on the side of the room. You moved back a little, towards Lucifer and tugged on his pant leg. When he looked up from his phone at you, you pointed to the people. Lucifer looked over, his eyes widened slightly.

"These are friends of mine darling, finish your drawing, I'll be just a moment." Lucifer smiled.

You nodded and watched him walk over the people. You turned back to your drawing, picking up a black crayon. You heard footsteps and looked up as the woman with black hair sat down on the floor beside you.

"Hi." She smiled.

You said nothing, looking over at Lucifer a little fearful. He gave you an encouraging smile, and you turned back to look at Ella.

"You have a kid? How?" Dan asked skeptically.

"Well you see Daniel, when a man, and a woman-"

"I think he means why haven't we seen her before." Chloe stepped in.

"Well up until last night she's been living with her ghastly mother, I was barely even allowed to see her most of the time. She doesn't talk much, her mother wasn't exactly a very warm nor loving person." Lucifer explained.

Chloe noticed how you shied away from Ella.

"Where is her mother now?" Dan asked.

"Dead. She overdosed last night, with her grandparents refusing to take her in, I have sole custody of Y/N now." Lucifer said.

He watched you give Ella cautious glances and keep looking over to make sure he was still there.

"Excuse me for a moment Detective, I believe Miss Lopez's cheerful demeanor may be a bit overwhelming for my little devil. She's not quite use to receiving such kindness yet."

Lucifer walked back over to you, sitting behind you on the couch. You felt safer, with your father closer to you.

"What are you drawing?" Ella asked.

You didn't answer, just like her other questions. Lucifer however, wasn't having that. He nudged you a little with his hand, silently telling you to answer her.

"The devil."

Ella looked a little taken back by that for a moment, but it wasn't long before she was smiling again. She leaned over to look at the picture, as Dan and Chloe joined them.

"Where's the horns?" Dan asked.

You looked up at him confused and frowned.

"Daddy doesn't have horns." You said like he had asked the dumbest question ever.

While Chloe and Ella tried to hide their smiles, Lucifer had no problem laughing at that. He pulled you onto his lap, giving you a proud smile.

You had begun to slowly warm up to them, enough to interact with them, even just a little. By the time they had left you had declared that you liked them, even Dan. Lucifer was just happy to see you coming out of your shell a little.

"Can I meet Trixie soon? She sounds really nice!"

Lucifer pulled the covers over your tiny body, sitting down on the bed beside you.

"Of course you can."

You smiled, sitting up to kiss his cheek.

"I'm happy I get to stay with you now daddy, I love you this much!"

You held your arms out as far as you could. Lucifer smiled at you, kissing the tip of your nose, making you giggle.

"And I love you, very much my little angel."
