Summary: You were his pride and joy, he'd often tell you that you were his salvation, swearing you're all the family he'd need. However, holding your little daughter in his arms, he begins to think he may have room for just one more.

............................................................

Your hair clung to your face, damp from the sweat that had been gathering on your skin. You were so tired and your limbs felt heavy, but you didn't care about any of that right now, to focused on the tiny baby laying against your chest. A hand lightly moved your hair from your eyes and you turned your head to stare at the man beside you.

"Isn't she beautiful." You muttered returning your gaze to your daughter.

Lucifer smiled at your joyful expression as you stared at the baby.

"She is, have you picked a name yet?" He inquired.

You nodded, fixing the little hat on her head.

"Annamarie."

The nurse standing by your bed, gently took her from your arms, and Lucifer grabbed your hand when he saw your concern.

"They're just giving her a quick check up my dear, they'll bring her back." He chuckled.

That did very little to ease your concern, but you nodded anyway.

"Alright now can we get Dad's full name for the birth certificate?" Another nurse asked, looking a Lucifer expectantly.

"I'm the grandfather." Lucifer told her with a tight smile.

The nurse tripped over her words, stuttering out an apology, before giving you a quick glance.

"The father isn't in the picture." You told her.

She nodded, hurrying from the room looking relieved to get away from the embarrassing situation she had just gotten herself into. You nudged Lucifer a little, giving him a teasing smile.

"Come on old man, I'm sure you scored some points with the nurse."

He scoffed when you called him old man and stood.

"I'll go get you some edible food, I won't have you eat this hospital swill."

You laughed as he left the room mumbling under his breath about being called old.

When you were finally released from the hospital you had intended on going home. In fact, you spent the majority of the car ride arguing with your father over the matter. He insisted that you stay with him, at least for a few weeks. Of course that was a losing argument, which is why you now stood in his penthouse.

"Just a few weeks." You said sternly.

"Right, of course, but if you'd like to stay longer than-"

"Dad." You gave him a pointed look but smiled nevertheless.

In all honesty you couldn't have been more thankful, while your ex didn't seem to want anything to do with you or Annamarie, Lucifer made it clear he did. He went out of his way to assure you that he very much wanted to be a part of his granddaughter's life. You sat the car seat down carefully but let the diaper bag on your shoulder drop to the ground with a dull thud. Despite your best efforts a tired sigh still slipped out and Lucifer looked over at you.

"Why don't you take a nap? I'll keep an eye on your spawn."

You were about to comment on him calling your daughter a spawn, but decided it wasn't worth the energy.

"Are you sure you can handle her?"

"I took care of you didn't I, you seemed to have turned out relatively ok. Besides, its only for a few hours." Lucifer waved a hand dismissively.

"Ok, but wake me if you need me, or if she starts to cry too much, or if you don't want to change her-"

Lucifer placed his hands on your shoulders, bringing your motherly rambling to a halt.

"Y/N, my darling daughter, I'm the devil, taking care of a human child will be nothing." Lucifer said smugly.

"Well she's not really human so-"

He sighed turning you around.

"Go to bed." Lucifer said ushering you in the direction of the bedroom.

"But I was just-"

"Sweet dreams, sleep well, now off you go."

You ceased your arguing, and Lucifer watched you until you collapsed onto his bed. He waited until your eyes had drifted closed before making his way over to the car seat. He knelt down, undoing the straps, and lifting her as though she was a porcelain doll.

"Looks like it's just you and me for a while." Lucifer smiled at her.

Twenty minutes.

That's how long your precious daughter had been screaming. You of course were blissfully unaware, still napping. Lucifer wasn't about to wake you either, he had taken his granddaughter to the balcony and was bouncing her as he repeatedly glanced towards the elevator. About five minutes into the newborns screams he had called in reinforcements, intent on letting you sleep.

"Lucifer?"

He left out a relieved sigh and motioned for his guests to join him outside.

"Detective so glad you could make it, oh, and you've brought the douche patrol, wonderful." Lucifer said sarcastically.

Dan, however, was to shocked by the baby in Lucifer's arms to respond. Chloe looked equally stunned.

"Why are you holding a baby?" Dan asked.

"Because she's crying." Lucifer deadpanned.

"I think what Dan means is why do you have a baby?" Chloe said.

Lucifer frowned when Annamarie only continued to scream, and he became distracted for a moment. Chloe held out her arms and Lucifer gratefully handed her the infant. Although she didn't entirely stop crying she did cease her screaming, instead quieting down to a fuss. Lucifer watched amazed as Chloe rocked the baby back and forth.

"So, Lucifer, the baby?" Chloe reminded him.

"Ah yes, well her mother was exhausted, so, I'm watching her while she rests." Lucifer said motioning towards the bedroom.

Dan and Chloe both exchanged looks, seemingly holding a silent conversation with each other. Lucifer didn't seem to notice as he went to get himself a drink.

"So, when was she born?" Dan asked glancing at the fussing baby.

"A few days ago." Lucifer muttered.

He poured himself some whiskey, bringing it to his lips to take a sip.

"Oh, we had no idea you were even expecting, congratulations." Chloe said.

Lucifer nearly spat his drink out, looking at them with wide eyes, when he realized what they were thinking.

"She's not-"

"It's ok if you're nervous at first, I can help if you need it." Chloe offered.

Lucifer sat his drink down shaking his head.

"While I appreciate the sentiment Detective I'm afraid you're mistaken Annamarie is not-"

"Annamarie? I would have thought you'd pick something a little more biblical." Dan shrugged.

Lucifer was growing annoyed at their interruptions, and decided to just let them think what they wanted.

"You must be so happy." Chloe said.

"." Lucifer said dryly.

Annamarie had fallen silent, Chloe's rhythmic rocking lulling the baby to sleep. Lucifer carefully took her from the detective's arms, staring down at his granddaughter with a small smile.

"Look at you, already so much like your mother, her favorite thing is sleeping too." Lucifer chuckled.

He seemed to remember that Chloe and Dan were still there and looked up, clearing his throat a little.

"Have you and her mother been together long?" Chloe asked.

Lucifer's look of disgust made them confused, and he narrowed his eyes. He opened his mouth to respond but a tired voice spoke first.

"Dad? Is everything ok?"

You paused when you saw two people you hadn't meant before standing by your father.

"Yes, just attempting to explain something to the Detective, and Daniel here." Lucifer smiled.

You walked over to him, taking your daughter from his arms. Chloe and Dan looked at the two of you speechless.

"Did she just call you ?"

"Yes, I am her father. Annamarie is daughter." Lucifer explained.

You could practically see the gears turning in their heads and you quickly jumped in with a believable excuse.

"I'm adopted." You lied.

While you didn't agree with your Uncle on most things you did agree that humans shouldn't know to much about divinity or anything paranormal really, it tended to cause panic. So, you saying you were adopted to explain how Lucifer could have an adult daughter, was better than saying 'I'm a Nephilim and my dad is the Devil, and I just had a baby with angel blood in its veins.'

"Oh." Dan said.

They seemed to buy your improv lie and you breathed a quiet sigh of relief. Lucifer frowned at your lie but thankfully didn't say anything about it.

"This is Y/N, Y/N this is Chloe, and Daniel, I've mentioned them a few times." Lucifer introduced the three of you.

You suddenly smiled, giving Chloe a quick look. You were finally meeting the woman your father was constantly talking about.

"Oh the Detective you're always gushing about." You teased.

Lucifer turned his head to look at you so fast that you were mildly surprised he didn't snap his neck.

"I do not ." He snapped.

You snorted, turning around and walking back towards the bedroom.

"Right, and I wasn't in labor for eight hours." Your voice dripping with sarcasm.

Lucifer stammered as he watched you walk away. You cooed at your daughter, giving her little hand a kiss.

"Come on Anna, let's get you fed while grandpa denies his feelings."
