Summary: There might have well had been a neon sign flashing above your head, brightly telling everyone about your not so secret attraction to the handsome devil. It was painfully obvious, easily noticed to everyone but him. You're too shy to confront him yourself, and Ella's had enough of the way you two danced around your feelings.

............................................................

"My house? What's wrong with yours?"

Ella had approached you not long after you had shown up in the precinct, answering her 'urgent' text.  The situation had not in fact been urgent at all, merely a way to get you to come faster.

"Your TV is bigger, and your living room is more spacious."

You looked at the oddly colored substance in the jar in front of her, you picked it up delicately, getting a closer look at its contents.

"Spacious? You mean I have less furniture?" You said.

"I don't have more furniture, I just have clutter! You're changing the subject."

You sighed, placing the jar back in it's spot.

"I don't know El."

She noticed how you stood up just a little straighter when Lucifer walked down the stairs, approaching Chloe's desk. She smiled knowingly, nudging you a little.

"Lucifer will be there."

~

Watching all the people in your living room, laughing, and talking, made you smile. Yet at the same time it made you regret agreeing to this, social situations weren't really your thing. Admittedly though you were more disappointed with how easily you had caved when Ella had mentioned Lucifer.

"Hiding isn't going to make this night go any faster."

The plate of food you had been holding was taken from your hands, and you watched Ella start to walk away.

"No, but it'll ease my anxiety, and I might make a fool of myself if I stay around Lucifer to long." You muttered back.

Ella didn't seem to agree with your decision, choosing to take matters into her own hands.

"Lucifer, Y/N needs helping carrying some snacks!" Ella said loudly, making sure you heard.

Her smile was devious and you wanted so badly to throw a cracker or some other piece of food at her, but settled for a halfhearted glare instead.

"Did you need help my dear?"

Your glare vanished, turning to look at Lucifer almost nervously. You motioned to one of the three other plates of snacks on the counter top.

"If you could carry one of those?" Your voice was quiet, nearly inaudible.

Lucifer smiled nevertheless, taking one of plates with him as he left the kitchen. You grabbed the other two, following him back to the group of people.

"Anything else darling?"

You didn't trust your voice, instead shaking your head.

"Thank you for having us over Y/N." Chloe smiled.

The others chimed in giving you their thanks as well.

"Well it was Ella's idea, she just wanted my spacious room, I believe it was." You shrugged.

"That reminds me!"

She dug through her bag, searching for God only knew what.

"I think you may have just involved us in one of her little plans." Lucifer whispered to you laughing a little.

You smiled back, but quietly hoped she wasn't scheming something. When she pulled out Just Dance you nearly hit her. She wasn't about to force you to make a fool of yourself, especially not in front of Lucifer.

"No. Absolutely not." Your voice was stern.

"But Y/N, you love this game! You're so good at it!"

All eyes were on you now and you wished the floor would swallow you whole.

"No I'm not!" You were surprised your voice didn't crack.

"Oh? Are you a dancer?" Lucifer asked curiously.

"It's just a game." You said dismissively.

"Well I'll play if you will, perhaps you could give me some pointers?"

You just couldn't say no to him, especially not with the smile he was giving you.

"Sounds like fun."

~

Lucifer, as it turned out, was not very good at the game. He insisted on doing it his own way, which of course, didn't earn him any points. You had to resist the urge to laugh at his misfortune several times. But at the end of the night, you really did have fun.

As everyone was leaving and Ella was helping you clean, you noticed Lucifer, brooding in the corner.

"You weren't that bad." You tried to console him.

"Don't lie my dear, it's unbecoming, I was flailing like a... what did you call it Ms. Lopez?" Lucifer asked.

"Newborn puppy." Ella said stacking a few plates.

"Yes, that." Lucifer sighed.

Ella had paused her cleaning to watch the exchange. You were much more comfortable around him than you had been when the night had begun.

"Well, I wouldn't say that exactly, but yes, you were a little... uncoordinated."

"But it's nothing Y/N can't help with, she's off work tomorrow, aren't you?" Ella asked innocently.

"Yeah..."

You really didn't want to answer her, but with both her and Lucifer's eyes on you, it couldn't be helped.

"Well problem solved! Y/N will help you and we can do this again soon, so Lucifer can show off his new skills."

Your heart hammered in your chest, nerves rising as you realized, she intended to leave you alone with him.

"I can't-"

"That sounds like a splendid idea!" Lucifer agreed.

"But I-"

Neither of them seemed willing to let you get a word in. Ella seemed all to eager to leave, and drew closer and closer to the door with each word.

"Ella!" You practically begged.

"Have fun you two!"

The door closed with a soft thud, and you stood there frozen. Realization dawned on you, this had been her plan from the very beginning. Lucifer seemed to catch on as well, but didn't appear nearly as shy about it as you did.

"Well, it appears we've been set up." He chuckled.

"I'm sorry about Ella, she knows about my... well that's not important, I'm just sorry you got stuck here with me."

Lucifer looked at you curiously, raising an eyebrow.

"Stuck here? I certainly wouldn't call it being stuck, on the contrary, I'm rather pleased to have some alone time to get better acquainted with you."

You were sure the dumbfound expression you wore was hilarious, but Lucifer didn't laugh nor comment on it.

"You are?"

Your question was even worse than your expression and you wanted to kick yourself. This time however, he did laugh.

"Very much so, yes, I've been trying for a while, however you are rather elusive love."

You tried very hard to stop yourself from smiling like an idiot, his words making your heart skip a beat.

"Well, Ella is going to be expecting you to be at least partially good at the game next time. Do you want to get started?"

Lucifer smiled at your teasing tone, holding out a hand for you.

"May I have this dance?"

Your laughter of his cliche joke made him smile, but you took his hand nevertheless, a twinkle in your eye.

"Of course."
