Summary: He'd never meant to make you feel alone, like he had no time for you, or that you were an inconvenience. You always came first and he planned on showing you just that.

............................................................

You stared at your phone screen, as if that would magically make Lucifer  respond to the text you had sent him nearly an hour ago. You stood up, leaving your phone, forgotten on the couch as you headed for the bar in the penthouse. You hadn't seen much of Lucifer lately, he had been to preoccupied with crime scene after crime scene. Your conversations with him were either brief or virtually nonexistent. You had begun to feel as though you were more of an inconvenience than anything. Your hand fell away from the bottle you were about to poor your drink from. Your phone was ringing from where you had left it.

"Hello?"

"Ah finally, I was beginning to think you wouldn't answer! Anyway terribly sorry I'll be running a bit late again tonight my dear."

Your shoulders felt heavy after hearing that and you sat down on the couch.

"Ok well let Chloe know I said hi."

You tried to sound happy or at the very least nonchalant about it. You had thought you did a fairly convincing job. You waited until he had hung up before letting the phone slide from your hand.

You sighed and stood, your loneliness faded to anger, and the pit in your stomach made you sick.

~

Lucifer walked out of the elevator, panicked slightly. You had stopped answering his calls, and he began to worry. His worry faded when he saw you sitting on the floor in front of the tan couch. You didn't turn your head to look at him, in fact you didn't even acknowledge him. Lucifer frowned when he saw the half empty bottle of whiskey beside you. The radio was playing faintly in the background, a song he didn't recognize.

"Y/N?"

You didn't respond, to zoned out to hear him.

"Are you drunk?"

He sounded surprised, you didn't normally drink so much, the fact that you were drunk right now only worried him more. You tilted your head back and gave him a smile he thought looked forced. He approached you slowly, his concern returning.

"Hey Luci! I thought you were going to be out all night!"

He knelt beside you, slowly taking the bottle from your hands. You made a small noise of protest, but still let him.

"I was, but you sounded odd on the phone earlier, I came to check on you. Are you alright love."

You looked at him confused, and furrowed your eyebrows.

"You came to check on me?"

Lucifer nodded, and you laughed a little, although to him it sounded dry, and humorless.

""

He didn't answer, giving you a look like he couldn't understand why you had asked that. You were beginning to sober up a little to fast for your liking.

"I mean, I haven't really been a priority lately. You've been spending all your time jumping from crime scene to crime scene. This is the most I've talked to you in almost a month."

Your mind screamed at you.

You stood up, taking the bottle back from him. You took another drink from it, before setting it back on the shelf you found it on. You kept your back to him, and placed your hands on the bar, hanging your head.

"I'm drunk, ignore me. It's nothing." You said dismissively.

Lucifer stood from where he was kneeling, his confusion had turned to regret. He heard the trembling breath you took and there was a pained look in his eyes when he realized you were crying.

"Oh love...come here."

You hadn't realized he was behind you until you felt his hands on your shoulders, turning you around. It took all you had not to break down completely when he pulled you into his arms.

"Why didn't you tell me I was making you feel this way? You must have known I would have listened." He said softly.

You were vaguely aware that you were staining his shirt with your tears.

"I just... I didn't know how to."

Lucifer smiled a bit, and held you tighter when you grabbed at his shirt, trying to pull him closer.

"Let me look at you."

You lifted your head to meet his eye, and he wiped your tears with his thumbs as he cupped your cheeks in his hands.

"You will be my first priority, regardless of anything. You'll always come first darling, even my Father can't change that." Lucifer promised.

You smiled and wrapped your arms around him, laying your head on his chest. Lucifer was caught off guard for a moment but that didn't last long. He wrapped his arms around you, kissing the top of your head.

"I will always love you." He muttered.
