CHAPTER 14: Silencing the mother and daughter duo

it was already weekend, kelly could be seen pacing back and forth in her room. Every five minutes she would walk to the window to see if Joseph had arrived until she finally saw him. It was around 2pm that Joseph arrived, he stepped out of his black range rover evoque.

He wore a black denim jeans and black body hug top and black leather jacket, with black leather boots. Although he was dressed in all black it didn't fail to enhance his handsomeness .

When kelly saw that he had arrived, she ran from her room to go and meet him, when she got to where he was standing she was already panting. "what took you so long? and I thought I told you to come with something low key?" Joseph looked confused. " you didn't give me a specific time, so i came for lunch instead. And that is the cheapest car in my garage." he said. "oh i guess i forgot because i was nervous." she said when she realized it was her fault.

She didn't notice when Joseph walked up to her and pecked her forehead. "wh..... what was that for?" she said while trying to move back but Joseph pulled her towards him before she could escape. "your dad is watching."

Then he held her hand and they went inside together. when they got inside maria walked up to them and smiled at Joseph. "hi Joseph, how have you been?" she said. Joseph just stared at her before saying. " do I know you?"

maria was speechless.

what does he mean by that? they go to the same school and they have most classes together so how could he not notice her after all this time. " w... we go to the same school and we have classes together how could you not remember me.

Joseph stared at her, and no emotions could be seen on his face. "we do? well I'm sorry for not remembering, I don't usually remember somethings and people unless i consider them relevant." he said that and walked past while holding kelly's hands.

maria was speechless. "was he indirectly calling her irrelevant, no maybe I misunderstood him." she thought.

Kelly who was there all along couldn't hold in her laughter anymore and she laughed when she recalled everything Joseph said to maria and she secretly gave him a thumbs up in her mind. Joseph obviously knew who she was, well he didn't know before until he recalled the incident at the cafeteria. But he realized earlier, everything he said to maria was on purpose.

when they got to the dining table they noticed kelly step mother there preparing the table for lunch with the assistance of a maid. " the guest us here, welcome to our home. Kelly where did you get such a handsome young man from why didn't you discuss this with mum?" she said to kelly before turning to Joseph. " I'm mrs Simmons, kelly's mother it's so nice to meet you."

"You're not my mother." she said coldly. then mrs Simmons looked at her with a pitiful look on her face. "kelly I know you still hate and blame me for everything that happened to your mum, but how can you humiliate me in front of our guest? don't you think you've punished me enough by hating me all this time?" she said and turned to joseph.

" I'm sorry for dragging you into our family matter and please don't blame kelly for what just happened, she's actually a good girl, she just blames me for what happened to her mother. she said and Kelly scoffed at her words.

Joseph just smiled and patted Kelly's head. " why would I blame her for anything, she has the right to think whatever she wants. Anything she tells me I'll believe her and I'll always think she's right because that's how much i love her." he said while smiling down at kelly.

" And I already know she's a good girl, without having any one to tell me. I'm already planning on visiting mother's grave to thank her for giving birth to such a wonderful girl and also ask for her blessing." he said before turning to look at mrs Simmons who had already turned pale.

"Who wouldn't understand what he meant, he obviously didn't acknowledge her and ask for her blessings, but he is already thinking of visiting the dead woman". she thought.

It was at that moment that mr simons arrived at the dining table.
