CHAPTER 10: What's your name
when the bell went off, the students had to leave the cafeteria to prepare for the next class.
Joseph told kelly to wait for him as he returned their trays, when he returned kelly said something in a low voice. "can you not bring me to this place anymore?" she knew that just eating with him was not enough that he was going to pester her continuously, so she just asked, meanwhile Joseph was happy with her question thinking she might want to see him again.
"why?"he asked with creased brows. "well, I'm not used to noisy places, it makes me feel uneasy." she said while looking down at her feet. Joseph chuckled at her every action she looked so cute which made him unable to refuse her.
he ruffled her hair. "it fine if you do not want to come again, I won't force you." Kelly felt relieved then she silently thanked him while looking at him to give him a quick smile, and it disappeared as soon as it was shown.
they left the cafeteria together, Kelly stared at the ground as she walked, and Joseph noticed. ever since the first day he saw her, he always watched her closely and he noticed that she always walked while looking down, so he couldn't help asking.
"why do you keep your head down while walking?" Kelly stiffened at his questions, she had her reasons for everything she does and it was a nightmare, she knew this was one of the reason that made people think she was weird but she didn't expect anyone to ask at all, and she didn't know how to answer.
Joseph noticed how her lips trembled and how she fisted her hands. he knew she didn't know what to say and that she was scared so he didn't force her. he held her hand and forced her to look at him then he smiled and said. "you don't have to think so much about what to say, just tell me if you can't answer I won't bite you". he said while raising his hand to pat her hair.
kelly was relieved he didn't ask again, so she raised her head and tears in her eyes were about to roll down, she hated showing her vulnerable side to anyone, but she felt like everything doesn't matter when she was with him, it felt so strange.
Joseph has never seen her like this, he felt like his heart had been stabbed with thousands of neddles, he felt like hugging her but he did want her to get scared so he decided to take things slow, he raised his hands to wipe the tears on her eyes. before he knew it she hugged him, he was surprised at first but he just gave a small smile.
few minutes later, kelly who noticed what she was doing pulled away she looked flustered and was thinking of what to say, when she noticed that Joseph was lost in thought, as if she knew what he was thinking she said. " don't even think about it". Joseph who heard her question looked at her obviously not understanding what she meant. "think about what?" kelly glared at him. "don't think about hugging me in the future". Joseph smirked at her words and said. " you were the one who threw yourself into my arms today".
kelly didn't know what to say because he was right, so she just walked away but was held back by Joseph. " you do realize that we are thirty minutes late for class right?" he didn't wait for her to talk, he just pulled her along with him and she didn't refuse his advances, she just let him pull her.
Joseph took kelly to the school's rooftop and they stayed there till the next period, joseph escorteded kelly to her class before going to his class but kelly suddenly spoke up. " wait, I didn't get your name". she spoke hesitantly.
Joseph smiled at her. he wasn't surprised at all considering the fact that she was always in class, he kind of guessed that she might not know who he his so he answered. "my name is Joseph, joseph li. he smiled one last time before he walked away.
He silently made a promise to himself to make her smile more, he was going to be the reason for her happiness.
