Feeling lucky

“Hey…, is anything the matter?”

“Huh? No”

“Why are you so nervous?”

“Oh…, nothing.. I. I thought you get angry at me, you know? I almost forgot about our daughter”

“Is okay, you don’t have to beat yourself, I know you are busy, but don’t you think you need to slow down a bit?”

“I will”

“Alright, let me calm you down” she made him sit and she starts massaging his neck down to his back. “Good, can you do that again?”

“Alex I’m pregnant, I can't do that again”

“Okay, then let me help you” he turned her over and start rubbing her tummy gently, her tummy is still flat because she was just three weeks pregnant.

Alex's mind shifted to Evelyn's, and his heart skipped, he looked at the time, is almost midnight. But thankfully, she has not called.

“Maybe she gave up” Alex muttered in his head.

Zack sat in Evelyn's room, leg crossed and staring at her.

She was so furious but there is nothing she can do.

“This is not your fight Zack, stay away,” Evelyn said from her sitting position, Zack has warned her not to get up from that place, she can go to sleep if she want, but she was not going to call Alex,

“Alex is with his wife, why can’t you get it?” he asks her.

“Stay out of it, I love Alex and he loves me too” Zack scoffed at her statement.

"Stop deceiving yourself, Alex will never leave Sandra for you, I know that for a fact. You are pretty, why throw yourself at him?”

“I’m not throwing myself at him, he came to me first, he made me fall in love with him, I was minding my own business but he shattered my life, now I can’t even concentrate on my job!” she yells at Zack.”

“Have you ever loved someone?” she asked Zack “Of course not, why am I even asking you? You don’t look like someone who can love anyone?” she said and try to get up but Zack walked toward her.

His face almost touching her face he whispered the words “Of course, I know what love is, I already love someone, I can’t even explain how I feel right now, but I also know what is called self-worth, you are too intelligent for this, I respect you, I do, and I wish you do the same for yourself”.

Evelyn blinks a few times, no one has even talked to her like this.

“Are you saying that I let go of Alex?” Zack swung his head.

“What do you think?”

“No, I can’t, he disrupts my life, he has to pay”

 Zack walked back to his seat, and looked at the time, is past midnight.

“Alex can’t come to you again this night, so I have to leave you now”

“Go and don’t come back!” she yell as Zack as he disappeared into thin air.

“Shit!” she slams the glass cup on the table, “Alex you are dead!”

Alex was glad he didn’t receive a call from Evelyn last night, he got ready for work as Sandra kiss him goodbye.
