Evangeline saw with a frozen shock. Kain was bleeding, lying limply on the ground. His eyes half-closed. "Kaine," she said. "What happened?"

"Lady Evangeline," he said quietly. "Run away."

"I'm not going to leave you here." Evangeline rose, turning with Kaine's arms wrapping around her shoulders. Just as the doors of the carriage burst open, a man poured out and raced toward her and Kaine. She saw a flash of metal shot from the tip of Aurelia's sword.

"What happen?" Aurelia asked as she slashed the man's throat. She tossed him on the ground with bloods stained the ground.

"I don't know. When I came out, Kaine already lain limply on the ground with bloody coat." She looked around wildly. "Where is Istarnie's dead body?"

"I asked Kyle to bring her inside William's carriage."
