Chapter Four

It was a bright and beautiful day. Caitlin woke up early and bathed Sultan, dressed him up nicely, fed him a nice healthy breakfast and took him to his kindergarten class In a preschool.

"Now Sultan, you be a good boy for mommy alright?" she said with a smile and he smiled cutely and nodded slowly. He was so adorable and had learned to speak so fast, although he wasn't fluent enough yet.

"That's my baby." she kissed his forehead. "What would you want me to buy for you?"

"Cho...colate!" he said with a cute smile and she beamed.

"Of course! I'll get you just that, my baby."

The preschool teachers smiled. They all loved Sultan very much. He wasn't just cute and adorable, he was very smart for his age too.

"Don't worry. We'll take good care of him. He's very smart." one of the teachers said with a broad smile as she took him from her arms.

Later on, Caitlin left for the job interview. Grace had cleared all obstacles for her and all that was left was the interview and acceptance.

Kane sat in his office, scrambling over some paperwork. He was exhausted and relaxed on the sofa for a while. His neck and shoulder ached. Surely being the chief executive officer of an organization as big and important as the Holton Empire (HEO) was no easy task.

So many responsibilities were placed on his shoulder which had to be taken care of or else his company would go bankrupt again. He couldn't bear to think about the last time it happened. It was quite horrible and they sustained major financial losses. It wasn't easy to bring the organization back to shape.

Kane Esmond was the CEO of the organization ever since he was twenty. It's been five years since then and the organization had been on the highest rating for importation of high quality foreign goods of all kinds, ranging from clothing and accessories to armaments and machinery. Not only was Kane famous for being such a young, responsible CEO, he was also very popular in the country and abroad for his incredibly good looks and intense handsomeness.

He was what every woman called a dream man. He was so wealthy at such a young age, with striking good looks that killed. He is so tall with a perfectly sculpted body and those broad shoulders were something to die for. His deep gray eyes were full of passion and pierced deeply with each stare. His face was perfect with the sharpness in the right places. His jawline was perfectly drawn and his long thick neck was a place every woman dreamt to hold. His deep voice was so soothing and his aura was very persuasive and quite powerful.

He was a man who knew how to get what he wanted without regrets. His beautiful dark and silky hair was a gold price to touch. With his rare masculine beauty and wealth, he was one of the leading richest men in the country. His net-worth was swimming in billions and still counting. He had uncountable properties all over the country and overseas. His wealth was unfathomable.

As he sat there resting from the day's aches, his personal assistant, Darian walked in, dressed in black suit.

"Sir, there are new employees for an interview in the sanitary department."

"I'm exhausted." he said after a long pause." let the chief cleaner handle that."

"Alright sir. I will inform her."

Caitlin finally arrived at the big office. She was taken to her department where she met with other employees who applied for the same job. It was a huge building, and they needed as many cleaners as they could get to keep the place sparkling clean, five times per day, so it was no easy task. Plus, the pay was very good even for cleaners.

Caitlin had a lot of experience with cleaning, so she wasn't worried about the load of work they had in store for her. With Grace's assistance, she was accepted easily and after the Interview with the head cleaner, Mrs Matilda, she was taken in immediately.

That same day, she got in her cleaner's uniform, a black gown with white linings and a white apron and she started working. She cleaned the female bathroom in the second and third storey of the building. It was a skyscraper with fifty storeys and two storeys alone had so many bathrooms.

At last, the work was done and she went for a break. In the canteen, so many male staff noticed her immense beauty and wanted to talk with her, but she refused them politely. She was obviously the center of attraction and that was when Darian, Kane's assistant noticed her. At first he did not recognize her, then the memories came flooding back and he could only stare in untold shock. She was that same girl two years ago that his master had taken forcefully. It had to be her! He moved a bit closer to get a better look.

It was obviously her! He remembered how he planned with his master to get her into the car and forced her to inhale that hard drug. It was her! He was quite horrified and he couldn't remember her name. Without wasting another minute, he left to tell Kane what he had seen.

Caitlin went to pick up Sultan from the preschool. He was overjoyed to see his mother and he rushed to her excitedly. She hugged him and carried him in her arms, smiling broadly.

"My beautiful baby! How are you?! You must've missed mommy now, didn't you?"

He nodded slowly and she smiled.

"Well it's time to go home now, and i bought you some chocolates, your favorites!" She took two packs of chocolate bars and handed them to him. He took it excitedly and tore the pack open, eating them joyfully.

"Ah…isn't he just the sweetest!" one of the teachers said. "he did so well today and even mastered all the alphabets correctly. He also wrote numbers one to hundred without a single mistake! He's very smart. I think he will perform really well in his studies."

"Really? Well that calls for celebration, Sultan!"

"Mummy…i want cake!" he said excitedly, still munching bits of the chocolate bars as they headed to the road to get a taxi.

I think we have some strawberry cake left in the fridge." she said as they sat comfortably in the cab. The driver smiled at them.

"Wow…your son is so cute! His father must be a very handsome lad, no?" Caitlin frowned and the driver noticed her changed mood.

"I….i am sorry about that. But your son is very adorable. You're very lucky to have him."

Caitlin forced a smile but she felt very uncomfortable. The last thing she wanted to be reminded of was the father of her beloved son, the cruel man that took advantage of her. Even though it had been two years since it happened, the bitter memories were still fresh in her head….that cruel smirk...the evil smile… every painful thrust….she felt cold chills down her spine whenever she remembered it.

No matter how hard she tried to forget, those memories always found a way to haunt her. It was probably something she would live with for the rest of her life but as long as she had Sultan with her, she was satisfied and happy.
