Chapter fourteen

I don't know how long I slept but I woke up to someone tapping my shoulder hard. When I opened my eyes, I saw grey eyes boring into mine. As long as I knew Xavier and Brandon, none of them had grey eyes.

I knew for certain that my sister too didn't have grey eyes. I pushed the stranger away with all my might.

But it seemed as if he knew I was going to do that. He held me tightly and put a knife across my throat.

"Now, if you try anything funny, you'll get sliced by my knife. And lemme tell you something else." The stranger said in a low voice. "I made sure I sharpened it very well." I swallowed hard when he said this.

I then realized that the rest had been held captive by others. Senah was crying but I just didn't know why every time Brandon and Xavier never seemed threatened by any situation.

They looked at ease. I suspected these people were bandits. How stupid could they be? We were in the middle of a zombie apocalypse and they're thinking about money?

"Are you guys serious? We are all looking for a safe place to hide from the zombies and you're thinking about money? If we all die, how will you spend the money?" I asked them.

"Shut up! That's none of your business. Henry, tie them up and if anyone tries to escape, you kill them. Understood?" A tall man instructed.

I assumed he was the leader. The man he addressed as Henry brought out ropes and began tying us up.

"Leave us alone. We don't even have a dime. Don't you understand? We have nothing!" Senah yelled.

"I said shut up! The girls are stubborn. The guys are cool. We might spare their lives. You two should keep quiet so that we might consider you too." Henry said pointing at Senah and me.
