" Ann, what do you think about this dude, doesn't he look handsome, hot, and classy", Veda asked much to the dislike of her friend.

Veda is a very close best friend to Ann, after Ann's elopement from her family taking on a new identity and living a normal life, although it was very hard for Someone who had been looked after by tons of servants.

" No, definitely not my type, under that handsome face, is one crass and uncouth soul, so leave me out of it", Ann said as she kept on working out.

"Okay workout warrior, what do you have against guys?", Veda asked seriously as she took the dumbbell away from her reach.

Ann sighed as she seemed to have fallen into a trance but quickly snapped out of it but it didn't go unnoticed by her friend.

" What happened? is there something you are not telling me? w-a-i-t a minute uh, are you in love with someone? ", she asked excitedly but also disappointed that her friend didn't trust her.

Ann smacks her head, " don't go about saying nonsense and having useless thoughts, I don't do relationships, now help me up", that seems to lighten up Veda's expression, " yes, your Majesty ", she said helping her up and grinning widely.

" You better get ready for work as my assistant, no slackening baby girl", Ann said with a serious expression why pointing at her with raised eyebrows, " aye, aye captain ", Veda smiled mischievously as naughty thought came up her head low to further annoy her boss.

She dashed into Ann's bathroom, " no, you Dumbo, get out of my bathroom ", Ann yelled in anger. Their childish banter continued till they arrived late to work.

" Lawyer Ann, you are late today of all days?, that's so unprofessional of you, did you forget that today is our board meeting ", Eileen, another lawyer in Pete's law firm questioned Ann. she has always been jealous of Ann's looks and working demeanor and considers her as an arrogant woman.

"Sorry won't happen again ", Ann apologized and walked off, " you better be, Mr. Parker will be very angry at you by now, and soon she's walking out on me with that lousy assistant of hers with so much confidence ", Eileen grunted.

She hated Ann and Veda's guts,

no one dares her because she is the cousin to Mr. Parker, the owner of Pete's law firm, she stumps her feet, hissing, and walked off to her office.

Ann catwalked to the manager's office, she was in deep thought when she bumps into someone, she glares at the man, picked up her files, and walked on.

" Just as he described her, wild tigress", the man said and walked off. Ann hated men, it was her fear, and she wants nothing to do with them except work. she loved a particular man and only him for the rest of her life.

"Hello Mr. Parker, let's go straight to the point ", Ann announced as she walked in and sat down, she rolled her eyes as he eyed her from head to toe, she reject his advances all the time but seems he isn't ready to give up and accept defeat.

Parker is a handsome and well-built man but he is no match for the man Ann loves and will never be. Ann has a well-defined pear shape that's why she puts on heavy clothing to cover her up.

"Okay pretty, sunshine law firm wants you to take up a case because of some crises happening lately you'll have to go because their offer in return for your help is huge. the case has been dragged to court and you know very well what dealing with the underworld means, here take a look at the files and sign the agreement when you wish but you have till next month", he said not tearing his eyes away from her.

Ann frowned at the mention of the underworld, she knew better than anyone what it entails since she is the Mafia king's daughter. The underworld is ruled over by the mafias, they deal in illegal activities like hard drugs, prostitution, murder, selling of human parts, etc, she is knowledgeable as she might seem like a lovely lady, but she has deep roots in Mafia.

Her father is the Mafia king ranking top one in the business world chart, he is so cruel that he trained her to be a mafia at the tender age of two, he took away her childhood as he trained her and engaged in martial art and combat mostly for her to take his position as mafia queen and also skillful and cunning in business to amass wealth.

She eloped from home because of pressure from her father about succeeding him, her overbearing mother, what did or can she not have? the answer is nothing because she was filthy wealthy but she left that life of classiness to live a normal life like making friends, working hard, cooking and washing, visiting places, and just being herself.

She stared at herself in the mirror of the female washroom, she remembered her father's threats " you better come back unless your dear ones will pay dearly", she wondered why the world hated her. she punched the mirror in anger as blood seeped out of her wound.

picking up a shard of glass and positioned it at her wrist, she took a deep breath, she was going to end all this.

" Ann, what are you doing?", Veda asked, she had known Ann would be in the washroom, thank heavens she came before she did anything stupid. she glared at Ann as she tied her wound with a pocket handkerchief, " go or you'll get late for the board meeting ", Veda said walking out.
