Chapter 24: Love, Blood, and Fangs

Julia Locke POV:

I sat in one of my town’s roadside diners, seated in a secluded booth as I nursed a black coffee. It might not have been the best choice of drink for me, because now it just reminded me of the taste of Marcus’s blood.

Still, it wasn’t over quiet yet.

A waiter came over and set a plate of donuts on the table in front of me. Now all I had to do was wait for my guest to arrive.

I didn’t have to wait too long. Two minutes later, Rob Hollard stepped through the door.

At first glance he looked as though he had aged a lot since the last time I had seen him. I doubted he had to shave his head to stay bald anymore, and deep wrinkles covered his face. I had to smile though because I could recognize the different between age wrinkles, and ones that appear when a person spends most of their time smiling.

That face broke into another smile when he saw me. “Julia,” he greeted happily as he came over.

“Rob,” I returned, rising to my feet.
