"I know..." Lily whispered. "I always thought she hated me because I was an extra cost. But it turns out, I never was one."

"Please tell me you confronted her." Kevin begged.

"I did. I questioned her. I demanded for answers but I got nothing." Lily smiled sadly. "She kept giving me stupid excuses like that funeral was too expensive, my tuition was high, the hospital bills were costly, and even that my parents left behind a lot of debt."

"That is absolutely ridiculous." Kevin muttered, raking his fingers through his hair which had been a habit of his whenever he got frustrated.

"That's nothing, Kevin." Lily managed to let out quickly, before a sob escaped her lips. "She... s-she f-force me..."

"Forced you to what?!" Kevin said, clenching his fists in anger.

"Martin was the son of a powerful lawyer in Sacramento." Lily said after a couple of quiet seconds. "He had a beach house where I lived and one day, I guess we ran into each other."
