Love And War..

[Mature Content; No rape] "Get away from her, Norwig." His eyes were bloodshot, an icy air swirling around him.  "How dare you touch what's mine. She's my mate and you better don't look at her, unless you want to lose your eyes." Shawn threatened. He could feel Emily's shocked gaze on him, but he could hardly care.  "Mate?" Kilan asked. His eyes glanced from Shawn to Emily who was just staring at the ground. "I didn't know she was yours Anderson. And please stay calm. As you can see, she's safe." Shawn could only scoff. "What? am I supposed to thank you? Emily, let's go." Emily, with a shocked look, got dragged away by Shawn. She looked back and gave the vampire a kind smile but Shawn noticed this, so he scooped Emily into his arms, and placed her on his shoulder! "SHAWN! LET ME DOWN! YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO DO THIS!" But Shawn never said a word. He took long strides, taking the both of them to an unknown place. "Shawn! We're at an event where everyone can see us! Please let me down." She pleaded but it fell on deaf ears. "Keep quiet. Don't make me handle you roughly." Shawn had a dead serious tone, but this only made Emily angry. "YOU WOULDN'T DARE! You have no right! Not after what you did and said." Suddenly, Emily was placed on her feet and slammed against a wall. Her heart rate picked up, fear enveloping her body as she thought she had finally made him flip. They were at a far part of the estate. Shawn's piercing eyes roved her face, watching her every reaction. Anger, shock, sadness and fear flashed across her eyes.  "Are you sure about that gorgeous? Do I have to remind you that you're my mate? You're mine Emily. No one— and I mean no one— can touch or kiss your skin." Emily was about to protest this but his lips slammed against hers roughly, cutting off her air supply for a moment. She inhaled sharply, her body immediately turning into jelly at the electrifying lip lock. -----------+ Thousands of years ago, a dreadful war befell the earth. A war between two different sides. Chapter 4: Worst day Ever 2

I woke up to see myself surrounded by darkness. It was already very dark outside. I sighed, realising that I slept throughout the afternoon. I turned on my bed lamp so I could check the time.

"7:45, I still have time." I need to go see Courtney. She has to know that I'm leaving, and she'll probably never see me again, plus I can get my assignment done with her.

I quickly put on my shoes and headed out. After about ten minutes, I arrived at her house. It would have been faster if I had taken my bike, but my knees were still hurting. I stared at the building In front of me. A brown coloured two story building standing proudly amongst many. There were many identical houses like this in the neighbourhood. Before I could press the bell, the door opened up.

"Emily, you're right on time." She squealed in my ear.

"Why is that?" I asked before putting my bag down on her couch. The yellow lighting gave the house a warm and relaxing atmosphere.

"Because of the text I sent. You read it, didn't you?"

"Text?" I whipped out my phone, and indeed there was a text.

"I didn't see it, I'm here because of our assignment." I then read the details of the text.

"So you want me to help you ask out a guy?" I was perplexed. Courtney knows I'm not good with people, especially guys.

"You don't know who it is yet." She replied with a knowing smile. I let out a sigh, and had my seat.

"Fill me in."

"Jake, your friend from the cafe." I stared at  my friend for a few seconds, trying to read her expression. But she seemed serious.

"What! You're joking." I said with a 'Are you serious?' look

"I am not joking" I couldn't help but pinch the space between my brows. Jake is a friend who works at my favourite cafe. He's the only guy friend I actually have. It wouldn't be too hard to talk to him.

"Alright, I hope he doesn't say no."

"You're the best, homework here we come!" She said with a gleam in her eyes. How did I not notice that she liked Jake? Her constant questions about what he likes, what he does and even his girlfriends. It was so obvious. I shoved the thought out of my mind and we focused on our assignment.

After thirty minutes of scribbling notes and ticking answers, we were done.

"Want a drink?"

"Sure." I said. It was time to tell Courtney. I didn't know how, but I had to. And knowing Courtney, she will definitely get angry and later start crying.

"Why do I feel like you want to tell me something?" She asked, as she opens up a can of drink for me.

'God I'm going to miss her.'

"Yes, I do have something to say. Something that is not easy to say."

"What is it?"

'Here goes nothing'

"I'm moving to Canada." Courtney momentarily froze, her eyebrows furrowed, as if trying to comprehend what I said. 'My exact reaction when I heard.'

"You're moving to where?"

"Canada, my dad got transferred so…"

"You have to be kidding! You're joking right? You can't leave. What would I do without you? We are best friends and best friends stick together forever." She rambled with wide eyes.

"It's not me. I have no choice."

"God this can't be happening. How will I cope without you? I mean, you are like my emotional support, I can't…"

"Courtney! We will always be best friends, no matter where we will be. And we can talk everyday if you'd like." I told her with a forced smile.

"But…" Her eyes were starting to shimmer.

"It's only another country, I'm still in the same continent. Courtney, nothing can separate us. Even during our 'wars', we always stuck together."

"Those wars were extremely stupid." She smiled as she remembered our fights.

"Yes, but it's still a point."

"You're right, so when are you leaving?"

"I don't know, all they told me is that we're moving to Canada."

"Moving to Iceland." Courtney muttered. I laughed. For the first time since I got back from school today, I actually laughed, lightly.

"It's only extremely cold in the northern regions and during winter…" A loud thunder grumbled in the sky.

"Looks like it's going to rain. You should go, but we're not done talking."

"Yes ma'am, bye!" I screamed as I ran out the door. I hastened my steps but it eventually started to pour.

'Great, now I'm soaking wet. Could this day get any worse?'

I started to run, trying my best to protect my bag and its contents. I finally got home, a chill fleeting across my body.

"Emily, where have you been? Look at you, you're drenched!" My mom exclaimed with a gasp.

"I was with Courtney, and I was already on my way when the rain started."

"How did it go? Did you tell her?"

"Yes, and she wasn't happy, Darn it!" I exclaimed. My books were drenched with rain. Jesus, how will I present my homework now?

"What happened?"

"My books got wet." I said with a sigh. I headed to the kitchen in an attempt to dry them. I place them on the counter and splitting the pages. There were patches of water on the floor.

"Emily, you're dripping water all over the place." My mom said. I immediately removed my shoes and headed to the laundry room that was in the kitchen. I grabbed a large yellow towel and wrapoed myself in it.

"Hope you don't have anything important there?"

"Of course I do mom, my notes and assignments just go washed off."

"I'll get them dry honey, don't worry. I was worried when I didn't see you in your room. You haven't had dinner."

"Did you think I was going to escape?"

"No, I just didn't want you to do anything rash and get hurt."

"You know I wouldn't. Speaking of food, I'm starving." I started to ravish the pot. I found one filled with spaghetti. 'This will definitely wipe away my sorrows.'

I filled a plate with some and start to devour my food. Spaghetti is my favourite food, it's just so delicious. You can totally bribe me with a plate of hot, steaming pasta.

"Wgje's adhd?" I ask with my mouth filled with a tasty fork-full of pasta.

"Sorry. Where's dad?"

"He's having a conference meeting."

"About him not being the manager of the new branch so we don't have to move?" I asked ecstatically.

My mom gave me a weird look. "No, just a normal business meeting. Honey it's already settled, we're moving to Canada."

"But I…"

"I'm sorry, but there's nothing that can be done. You'll love Canada, trust me." She said and left me with my plate of spaghetti. It suddenly turned sour in my mouth. I pushed it aside and headed to our small patio, the only thoughts running through my mind was how Canada would impact my life.
