After successfully getting out of dancing, I stayed at another section of the party with Kat and Mike. The party was getting crazier every minute.
"Where's Shawn? And most importantly, where's the birthday boy?" Asked Kat.
"Kevin said something about being late and Shawn…I do not know." Mike replied. Kat just let out a sigh.
"At least Kevin should be here, he's the birthday boy. He can't miss his own party!"
Kevin was the host of the party, and today was his birthday. He was also the one who invited me. Karla told me about him on our way here, but I haven't heard anything about this Shawn guy. I took a few sips of my drink.
"Guys! Something's happening at the backyard!" Some guy announced into the microphone. The music died and curious chatters filled the room. Then everyone started heading for the back door.
"What's going on?" Kat asked, confused.
"Let's go check it out." We followed the mini crowd to the backyard. It was still quite bright outside. The first thing that caught my attention was a loud swirling sound. I looked up to the sky and saw a helicopter, thousands of feet in the air.
"Is that who I think it is?" Said Kat.
"Yep, It is." Said Mike. There was a small grin on his face. Then suddenly, I saw someone jump out of the helicopter!
'What the hell!' Screams of delight filled the air when this crazy person jumped off. I stared at Mike in horror.
"Mike, what…"
"Shh, just enjoy it." He told me. I looked back up to see the guy still descending. Beside me were Karla and Tasha, who were also cheering this person on.
I wanted to close my eyes so badly, but I couldn't. I unconsciously fisted my dress as I watched the scene in front of me, But then, a parachute opened up and I let out a sigh that I was unintentionally holding.
The person who I figured out to be a guy finally landed safely. Everyone started to cheer for him. He removed the mask and I was able to see the mad person behind it.
He was about two inches shorter than Mike. He had dark hair and nice facial features.
"Thank you everyone for attending my party!" He waved his hands at all of us. Kat rolled her eyes but she still applauded him.
"I know you're enjoying the party and I know you enjoyed my amazing performance." There was a big smile on his face.
"Go Kevin!" Yelled Karla.
'That's Kevin?' I wondered. Everyone started to file back inside. He came towards us with a big smile.
"You sure know how to make an entrance." Said Mike. Kevin gave him a bro hug.
"I strive to please." He greeted the ladies and his eyes finally landed on me.
"You must be Emily. You're pretty." He commented. My eyes widened in shock, heat immediately rose to my cheeks.
Oh my God! Did he just call me pretty? Maybe that's what he says to every girl.' I reasoned.
He walked away and then motioned to us.
"Come on guys, the party is inside." Karla poked me on the arm and we headed inside.
"You're not getting out of dancing this time." Karla told me. I groaned internally at my luck.. Then the door barged open. Normally, when someone arrives, no one will pay any attention. But that wasn't the case this time. Everywhere went dead silent and everyone was staring at the door. Curiously, I turned to see who it was but when I did, my jaw almost dropped to the ground.
A guy stood at the entrance, his piercing eyes trailing around. Alright, when I first saw Carl, I found him to be good looking, Mike was quite handsome and so was Kevin. But this guy was on another level completely!
His face was like it was crafted to perfection. Nice jawline, dark brown curly hair that was dishevelled and thin lips that held a grimace. He was very tall too. Probably about two to three inches taller than Mike. I could trace out his taut muscles through the tank top that he wore. This guy looked like a god!
He walked in and I heard the unknown ethereal looking guy say,
"I told you not to take the helicopter but you still went ahead to use it." His voice wasn't deep, it was light and smooth, but with a hint of raspiness behind it. He got to where Kevin was, which was beside me! I swiftly took note of the fact that this guy was completely hovering over Kevin.
"Dude, you know I needed it. And it's not like we crashed it or something." Kevin replied.
"It's only meant for emergencies. You shouldn't have taken it when I told you not to." The guy replied. Apart from him being breathtakingly handsome, he was quite intimidating. He had a scary and strong aura emanating from him. It sent little tremors down my spine. I started to wonder if Kevin wasn't scared.
"Look at it as a birthday gift?" Kevin said. Mike then came in between the two.
"Kevin, you shouldn't have used the helicopter, but Shawn, cool down a little. It's the guy's birthday!"
'Wait, that's Shawn? Wow…'
Shawn let out a sigh and he seemed to relax. "Don't you ever go against me again." Kevin gave him a playful smile and then Shawn walked off. Finally removing my gaze from him, I realised that everyone was still rooted in one place.
"Who stopped playing the music? Come on everyone, let's party!" Kevin yelled, and like he had turned on a switch, everyone started to rock to the beat.
"Emily, you have a little drool here." She swipped my chin and I shrieked.
"I do not!" I defended.
"Relax, I sometimes drool when I see Shawn too."
"I thought you liked Mike?" I asked. She gave me a shy smile.
"You noticed?"
"You're very obvious. So who is he." I asked, a surge of curiousity rushing over me.
"Shawn Anderson, Hawthorne's hearthrob and star athlete."
"Oh, ok." I said slightly lost in thought.
"Come on, let's go get some drinks to cool you off. You seem to be very red and hot."
"What! Karla!" I exclaimed. She just laughed maniacally and headed to the drinks spot. I followed too. My heart was still racing from Kevin's stunt and now this guy completely elevated it. I hated to say it but he affected me a lot. His looks and aura, Heavens!
I saw him talking to a few people. He had a serious expression on his face. I wonder what they were talking about. Meanwhile, there were two girls that were fawning over him.
'This is gonna be a wild night, at least for me.'
