Her Powers

A few days passed, and her life in Mireworth Castle was unexpectedly fun and exciting. Although she always argued with Thane, she had never felt alive in her thirty years in Terra.

For the first time, she didn't feel alone anymore. For some reason, she was actually anticipating their arguments.

Thane gave her a room to study and learn more about her powers. She didn't know she wasn't the only one who had the ability to stop time, but there were others who had the same powers like hers.

When she first entered the castle, she was amazed by the beauty of it. The castles in Acheron were always gloomy and dark, surrounded by filths and mud. You could always smell the scent of blood from the dead and could hear the screams of those who sinned.

But Mireworth Castle was a thousand times different from the castles of Acheron. Fourteen narrow, spheroidal towers surrounded the place in a perfect circle, connected by relatively low, narrow walls made of red bricks.

High, wide windows were spread around the walls in a seemingly flawless symmetry, along with enormous crenelations for archers and artillery.

A massive gate with thick metal doors and a strong citadel were guarding a drawbridge and different artillery supplies. A secret passage into the castle was built on a mountain top, but Elisia knew more secrets were hidden inside Mireworth.

Thane introduced her as his mate and soon-to-be Luna. She still couldn't understand his reasons, but she accepted it. When they arrived, the council had already prepared everything for them. She was anxious that they needed to share the same room and had to sleep on the same bed.

"You said we're going to have separate rooms! Are you trying to lock me up in here?" She yelled.

Thane was sitting on the couch near the fireplace, holding a glass of wine while he watched Elisia pacing back and forth.

"Where will you sleep?" She asked.

"On the bed. You can sleep on the floor if you don't want to sleep with me. The bed has an extra mattress under it. You can use that." Thane coldly said.

She pouted, then turned around and went inside the bathroom. Thane chuckled when he heard Elisia screaming; then, she came out poised like it was nothing.

Their first night together wasn't bad. Thane had a lot of things to do, so she fell asleep and woke up the next day without him. She thought it would be like that every day, but on the second night, he came to rest early.

He was quiet, and so was she. He was on the couch drinking wine again while she was on her bed reading a book. The silence was deafening, but none of them tried to open up a conversation.

Elisia sighed. She closed the book she was reading, stood up then walked toward Thane.

"Can I have a drink?" She asked.

Thane didn't answer and just pointed at the bottle of wine on the table. Elisia took it and poured one for her; she sat on the couch across from him.

"Do you have a plan on how you would return me to my grave?" Thane asked.

Elisia took one sip of wine before answering him.

"I can't think of any."

"And why is that?"

"First, you didn't tell the reason you wanted to die so badly. Second, I don't know how to kill your kind other than wolfsbane, which, as you said, won't work on you anymore. And third, I-I"

"You what?" Thane frowned.

"Well, when I used my power, it drained me. I never had the chance to get it stronger, so somehow it's weak. My father said it wasn't necessary since my ability was useless. He said it was unstable, and there was no way to fix it. I was never allowed to use it except for stopping time."

"And what's your point?" Thane asked impatiently.

"My point is, I can't use it because it's too weak. I'll try after four months, but I need to practice or train." She answered.

Thane sighed. Elisia wanted to know his reasons so badly, but it seemed he would never tell her why.

"Fine. I'll ask someone to prepare a room for you. I will tell my men to gather information about temporal rewind."

Elisia frowned. "Temporal rewind?"

"What? You don't even know what your power is?" Thane asked, surprised.

"No. Father didn't tell me anything. No one did." She murmured.

Thane felt the sadness in her voice. He couldn't understand why the former demon king told his daughter that her power was useless. In fact, temporal rewind was one of the most powerful abilities.

Elisia's powers were an ancient ability used by two Gods, the twins, Kairos and Tempos. Kairos could use temporal rewind, while Tempos' ability was temporal resurrection or the ability to return someone from the dead.

"Each power and ability of a mythical creature has a name. What you used was temporal rewind or the ability to turn back time. But you didn't just use one. You also used temporal resurrection or the power to bring someone back to life."

At first, Thane didn't plan on telling Elisia about her powers, but he sensed her loneliness earlier, and telling her about it would not hurt him.

"Controlling and manipulating time was forbidden because it could change the future. What you did was unforgivable. Do you think the Moirai would forgive you if they found out what you did? Even if you're the daughter of Asmodeus, do you think they will spare you?" He continued.

"I-I don't care. I don't regret anything. I'm sure you would do the same if you were in my place." She said in a low voice.

Elisia didn't regret anything but was ashamed of feeling that way. After all, her selfish and immature decision put her in that situation.

"I would never do something like what you did. If the one I loved died, I'm better off dead than turning back the time and ruining the fate of others."

"Did someone you love die? Was that your reason you wanted to die, too?" Elisha asked.

Thane's face turned dark. Elisha's heart started pounding when she felt it again, the feeling of darkness.
