Love's Defying Boundaries: Redemption of A Villain

A modern-day story starts with Sheyiah, who is obsessed with novels. When she got a book, she brought it home from an old, mysterious man. After finishing the book, she never taught that the villain character in the book was already standing in front of her. Could she be just dreaming, or is it a magical reincarnation or a magical anomaly? Or just overthinking slash daydreaming? (Revised, Jan 2024)

[You are so lucky to have free time for yourself. No class and studies to worry about, and no work to be stressful. Maybe, I should get a pudding for a celebration.]

She is Sheyiah Aguillar, 20 years old, and she's a junior in college. She leaves alone because her mother died when she was young, and her father left together with his new family. So, she was sent to her grandparents; eventually, they died, and she was left alone. She inherits all her grandparents belongings, enough to cover her needs and sustain her daily life. She luckily got a scholarship at her college, which is better since she can't spend much money on her education. She does part-time work as a waitress at a café near her school to have an allowance for her wants.

"Hey! Lil sis, was today your day off? '' Ask one of the employees in the café. She got straight to her workplace to buy a pudding after knowing that they don't have a class because of the professor's emergency meeting.

"Yup! Have you forgotten already? My! My! Are you getting old, Big Sis Leah?" If some people hear that, they might think that it was rude, but for them, it's common because they work at the same workplace.

"How about shutting your mouth, or I'll drag you out of here since it's your day off and you're not an employee right now? I can call the police, ya know?" And then Leah teasingly winked at Sheyiah.

"I am a customer for the moment; how about the motto that the so-called customer is always right?", and Sheyiah teased back.

"Now, I see, huh? How about me not getting your order, Miss Customer? ''

"Then I'll get it by myself, and that might get you in trouble, hmm?"

"Ha! You win, Sheyiah! Why I can't win over you! You're so meanie! Anyway, what's your order? then you can shoo-shoo from here because you still have a school."

"I want pudding, Big Sis. I don't have a class today; it was cancelled. I wasn't informed when I got to the classroom; no one was there. Luckily, the guard told me that the professors have an emergency meeting."

"I see. Anyways, I've heard somewhere that there was an event called Street Bazaar where all stuff was 50% off, and it was located at my place nearby. Wanna go? It lasts for two days only; it's a good opportunity to get some good stuff there, ya know, 50% off."

"I don't know. I'll note it."

"Mmkay. Suit yourself, Lil Sis.''

------------------------------------------------------------------

After eating her favorite pudding, Sheyiah just had the thought that she should give it a try and take a look at the event to get some good stuff, like books. Sheyiah loves reading books, just like the other teens who love reading novels, manga, manhwa, comics, etc.

As Sheyiah happily wandered off and realized that she had lost track of time, she just noticed that it was already getting dark. Sheyiah thought of buying something for her past time, then went home. So, she just went to the bookshop across from her. As she kept on scanning a book, she bumped into an old man who's nearly 70 years old.

"Im sorry, grandpa, its my fault. I'm really sorry. Are you hurt?" She asked and kept on checking on the old man to see if he had a bruise or scratch.

"Im okay, child. No need to worry, Im fine.'' the old man said.

"I'm really sorry; I was scanning a book and I didn't notice that there was someone behind me." As Sheyiah kept on saying sorry, the old man chuckled.

"I am really okay, child. So, are you scanning a book to buy it for someone, or is it just for you, child? ''

"Ah, *chuckles* It's for me, grandpa. I love reading books.

"Hmm. I see. Is it okay if I help you find a book you like? You see, I am the owner of this shop. I read all the books in here. What genre do you like, child? "

"Oh my! I never taught that I bumped into the owner of the bookshop. I am sorry again, grandpa. *paused* I don't know what to buy in here because there are all good books; I can't choose. And as for now, grandpa, I'm into fantasy novels."

"Hmm. You're just like my great-grandchild—more into fantasy books. Now, follow me to the other shelf. There's a good book in my mind that might catch your interest."

Sheyiah obediently followed the old man. As they reached the other shelf, Sheyiah noticed almost half of the shelf was like an old cover. The shelf has an extravagant design compared to the other shelves. When Sheyiah looks at the old man, he is about to reach the book, but he cannot reach it, so Sheyiah lends a hand and gives the book to him. Then the old man speaks to Sheyiah.

"This book is so memorable to me. I have had this book for more than 10 years, as I remember.''

"Grandpa, why does this shelf look more luxurious than the others? ''

The old man chuckled and replied. "Ah. You notice it." Then Sheyiah nodded.

"This shelf contains all of my favorite books that I have collected. I gave this book to you, my child, as a gift because you remind me of someone who is very dear to me. And this book was a gift to me from her." And he give the book to Sheyiah.

"Grandpa, you don't have to give me a gift. Besides, it is one of your favorite books. I'm just a nobody, Granpa; I can't accept it."

"Child. I dont mind giving one of my favorite books, as long as I know that the person I gave it to is taking care of it. I am old now, my child, and I can't read anymore because my eyes are blurry. So take it; think of it as a gift that you bump over with the owner.''

"Then I'll receive it and take care of it, grandpa. Thank you so much for this. If you don't mind me treating you as a thank you, if it is possible when you have time, Granpa. I know a good cafe."

"Nah, it is fine, child. Just save your money, hmm. Now, go home; it's getting more dark outside, and it is dangerous for teens like you in the streets." Then Sheyiah was escorted by the old man till they reached the outside of the store, and he said this before Sheyiah left.

"Let the magic guide your life. When you have a dream that you want, believe in it with determination because those who never believe in magic will never find it. That quote was my favorite in that book." Then Sheyiah nodded, bid her goodbye to the old man, and went home.

[Time starts now. Make your own magic, child. Be careful.]
