With the end of dusk, a new dawn has begun. Stepping outside the suite, Theresa found herself in a place filled with wooden benches and tables which was comfy enough for enjoying the scenic views of Meteora along with dining. Surprisingly, the place was empty. Could it be because it was early in the morning? That was the only thought that crossed Theresa's mind.
Clad in long floral skirt and long sleeve tees that perfectly shaped her body, Theresa sat on one of the wooden bench, hugging herself by her knees. She shut her eyes off as she drowned in the soft morning breeze.
"I must admit it's one of the most beautiful moment that I've ever witnessed till the date." His sapphire eyes fixated on Theresa, shining affectionately in the illumination of the orange sun. Neat black quiff hair, pocket patched shoulder shirt and cargo jeans, it was none other than Egan.
Theresa opened her eyes as she turned to face Egan. The golden rays of the sun soaked through Theresa's white skin. "Didn't expect you to be here. By the way, where did you stay yesterday?"
"I just stayed somewhere near. I'm glad that you asked." There was a glint of gratitude in Egan's sapphire eyes.
Theresa lowered her feet in the ground, as she stood only some inches apart from him. "When will we be leaving?"
"After breakfast." In an attempt to close the distance between them, Egan stepped closer to Theresa. "Are you still upset with me about yesterday's matter?"
Staring at Egan's pitiful eyes, she replied, "A little maybe."
"Hmm, I see. I apologize, once again. Honestly speaking, I am really willing to do anything to make it up to you."
Theresa was dazed after hearing him, "Do you mean it?" She raised her eyebrows.
"I do." Egan nodded with full confidence.
"Okay. Then let me ask you a question. Besides the truth of being a phoenix, is there something I need to know that you are hiding from me?" Theresa knitted her eyebrows.
The question caught Egan off guard. Though the answer was a 'Yes' or a 'No' but his incapability to respond irritated Theresa.
"Is it so difficult for you to answer in a single word?" Anger and disappointment filled her voice.
Egan's face muscles tensed, guilt was written all over it, "Yes but before you jump into any conclusions, let me explain myself."
"Do you perceive me as someone who jumps into conclusion without listening to someone's part of the story?" A slight feeling of disappointment pierced Theresa's heart.
"That's not what I meant, Theresa."
"Say nothing." She lifted her hand, signalling a stop hand ban. "What is even left for you to explain, huh? God knows for how long are you planning to keep me in the darkness." Theresa's brown eyes reflected uncertainty.
"I promise, it's nothing like that." In an attempt to console her, Egan held Theresa's hands.
"If it's nothing like that then what can be such a big secret besides you being a phoenix? I don't see a necessity for you to hide something that I need to know." Theresa squealed in frustration, loosening her hands from his.
"It's complicated, Theresa. Please try to understand. There are things that I cannot say to you even if I badly want you to know." Egan was unable to say anything, dropping his head low, he stayed quiet. Theresa sensed his vulnerability.
She sighed, calming down herself a bit, she caressed his hair. "Hey, it's fine. You don't have to be pressurized about it, okay? I know my Egan very well. Just look at my eyes and breathe." Egan slowly hefted his head and met her pure gaze. The small smile on Theresa's lips instantly lightened him and waves of tranquility splashed his restless heart.
He stroked Theresa's knuckles and pressed a gentle kiss on it. "Words cannot express how much I'm grateful to have you in my life. You have made me the world's luckiest man."
A flock of butterflies swam in Theresa's tummy as her heart fluttered in the magical effect of Egan's sweet-sugary words. Even after decades of togetherness, he never failed to spark her.
"Ahem." The sound of clearing throat startled Theresa and Egan. She immediately pulled her hands from his cheeks.
"Guys, I would like to apologize for my intervention but there's a long day ahead of us so wouldn't it be better if you guys were to continue it tonight behind the closed doors?" Demi sarcastically remarked, curling her lips.
"Demi." Theresa pursed her lips.
"Well, Demi's right. I don't mind taking you in tonight, Theresa." Egan seductively tapped her chin.
Theresa's cheeks flushed, unconsciously she bit her lower lip. Eyeing her plummy lips with lust, he couldn't control himself from devouring her. Egan wrapped his hands around her waist as he approached closer to her face.
The tension sent heat down Theresa's spine. "Oh god. Is it finally going to happen today?" She wondered as she melted in his embrace. Okay, so this might sound crazy but despite being engaged, Theresa and Egan have never been involved in a physical relationship, not even a kiss.
When their lips were about to be touched, Egan felt a sharp poke on his back. "You gotta be kidding me, guys. How dare you try to kiss my sister in my presence?" Demi frowned her eyebrows in disapproval.
"What a timing! Fuck!" Egan cursed under his breathe. "Theresa is my wife-to-be so it's normal that I dare to kiss her in front of you." He turned around to face Demi.
"Huh. Let me remind you something, before being your fiancée, she is my sister." Demi crossed her arms, arching her eyebrows.
"You...." Egan tried to argue further but Theresa interrupted him. "Forget it, Egan." Her light touch on his shoulder relaxed him a bit. "I have so many things to discuss with my sister so what about we continue it tonight?" Theresa whispered in his ears, her hot breathe tingled Egan, arousing his sensations even more. Then she kissed him on his cheeks.
"Let's go, Demi. You have a lot to explain." Theresa pulled her sister's arm. "Meet us here after an hour." Theresa winked before walking away from there.
Touching on his cheeks, Egan smirked, "I'm looking forward for tonight."
