Blind date

After meeting Yiyang, Feifei decided to spend the day at home with her bed and dog. But as she was about to go upstairs, the door to her father's study suddenly opened and revealed her mother who immediately called her. "Xie Feifei, come with me to the study."

Her mother seldom called her by her full name. Noticing this, Feifei felt uneasy. She turned to follow her mother to her father's study.

When she entered her father's study, she was asked to sit down first as her father finish signing some documents from the company. Her mother on the other hand, asked her where she had gone. "Fei, where did you go?"

"I met Ying today, Ma. It has been four years since we last saw each other." Feifei told her mother truthfully.

"Feifei, you didn't tell her the truth, did you?" Feifei's mother asked. She was terrified, her daughter couldn't have told Yiyang the truth.

Looking at her mother's agitated face, Feifei suddenly chuckled. "Ma, how could I tell her the truth? You know I could have told her the truth if that incident did not happen but you all left me with no choice but to play along with your lies four years ago."

"You.." Feifei's mother was undoubtedly angry by Feifei's remark but before she could scold Feifei even more, a loud slamming of pen rung out in the study room. It was soon followed by Feifei's father's stern voice. "Enough! Do you really intend to fight in front of me?"

"Pa, just tell me what you want to say. I am quite tired." Feifei said as she nonchalantly looked over at her father.

"Then if you're tired, go up and rest. You still have to meet your husband later, Eldest Miss. You have to look beautiful." Her father calmly declared.

As soon as her father finished speaking, Feifei was left in confusion as she knitted her eyebrows and said, "Pa, I don't have a husband. I'm not even married."

Hearing Feifei's answer, her father slowly stood up from his desk, walked towards her and smiled. "You will have one soon, Fei. Don't you remember your grandfather's promise to the Shens? Soon enough, you'll be the young madam of the Shen Group."

Remembering her grandfather's promise to the Shen family, Feifei's face paled. She can never honor that ridiculous promise. She never imagined herself getting married to someone because of an arrangement. "Pa, don't joke around. Who gets married these days because of  the elders' arrangement? That's so old fashioned, Pa."

Feifei's father's face visibly darkened as she said those words. "Are you saying you won't even honor your late grandfather's wishes?!" Her father roared.

Feifei wanted to honor her late grandfather's wishes. Who would not want to honor their late grandfather's wishes? But marrying someone, spending the rest of her life with someone for a promise between two elders, it would mean gambling with her own life where she could only totally lose or win.

"Marrying someone because of an arranged marriage, Pa, are you really willing to give your eldest daughter to someone that way? Are you not even afraid that he might mistreat me?" Feifei tried to reason with her father. Hoping in the slightest he would not put the arranged marriage promise into heart of the two families.

Feifei's father's eyes softened upon hearing his daughter's pleas. In his heart, no one would be worthy of his daughters no matter how fine and rich they are. But honoring his late father's dying wish is another thing.

"Fei, your mother knew how much I wanted to have a daughter." Feifei's father started as he stared at his wife lovingly. "And she also witnessed how happy I was when we found out we are having you. I was over the clouds finding out I'm about to have a daughter and I was even anxious when your mother was about to give birth to you. I was never a prayerful person but I did pray for your mother to give birth to you safely. You know how much I doted on you and Ning because you're my daughters. Your existence to me is so precious I wouldn't trade it for anything else. And no man would be worthy of you in my heart. But Fei, honoring your late grandfather's wish is another thing. Papa won't ask for anything big. Just promise me to give the young master a chance, hm?" Her father asked of her as he held her hand and looked at her eyes with his own eyes full of pleading.
