Chapter 13

I still can't wrap my head around all I heard from Deborah yesterday, a certain part of me says, going along with her plans is a bad idea and another part just tells me to go right ahead, and go with it, for there's nothing more to lose

Will she be alright? Blessing, the fact that she put that girl under a spell really doesn't sit right with me, using wickedness on a Nephilim leaves a stain, or rather a scar, because of our sensitivity against it, more so one that can weild miracles. Blessing couldn't have been made my attendant if she couldn't use it and I'm sure Deborah knows, no she's definitely aware

"Am I doing the right thing? if I am, then why does everything feel so wrong?"

standing and walking away from where I sat, a crease was left behind on the white sheets

I stood by the window, looking up at the night sky, the silvery rays of the moonlight falling into the dark room behind.

I sigh

"I can't waver now, they took my heart from me I must take my pound of flesh in retur"

"good, good, I can see you've mulled over my suggestion and have made a decision, I should receive a befitting response, judging by your solemn words, but I still need your verbal approval, now speak, although I know your answer, but words give power to the arcane"

"I'm ready to fall, if it means I get to avenge the one those vermin's took from me, I agree to your terms give me power"

"ah, you are no coward I see, alright, I won't be the one to actually help you, but I will take you to a place tonight, where you can get the help you need, the earlier, the better, and when you get there, they will tell you the terms or conditions you need to meet to get what you need"

I nodded, taking a deep breath, I walked straight out of the room

"what if I hadn't taken precautions?"

brows raised she asked

"I have seen your power and I know you're not one to act without thinking things through, besides, even if I'm not as powerful as you, I'm not totally helpless either"

she smirked

"I can't wait to see all you achieve with the power you're given"

"Blessing?"

"who's that?"

"the attendant"

"oh yes her, she'll meet us at the gate of the mansion and from there we'll get out of the enclave"

we run out, moving past several hallwaysscenes blurring out against each other

"keep up"

"I'm trying the best I can in this state"

she looked back at me, eyes trailing down my body

"what?"

I snapped glaring

"were you starved? hmm I guess you were, typical, anything to keep the fragile balance, they believe fasting will help cleanse your mind from the darkness"

"they were right to be afraid, I mean look here we are"

I answered shrugging my shoulders

"true, too bad you were too far gone, the fasting could have worked if your emotions weren't so strong, but as you said, here we are"

"do you think she'll be able to get there in time?"

"don't underestimate my power, I didn't just control her mind at a surface level, the spell I cast on her will make her go beyond her physical limitations to achieve our goals"

I fell silent brows furrowing

"no need to look that way, she may have a scar on her soul but she won't die, besides, there's no other way to get your child and also get out of the enclave within minutes, it's beyond impossible and if we were to go with her, it'll cause more commotion, my magic can only do so much"

"fine, but once we get out of here free her from your influence, or this wouldn't be as simple as a single scar, the deeper your influence, the more she's faced with the risk of getting destroyed"

"fine, fine, whatever I can see the entrance move faster"

we dash into the open air, the chill of the late November wind penetrating my limbs.

I stop, turning back to look at the building I came out from, warmth gathering beneath my eyelids, I purse my lips, turning away abruptly

"we should go"

"wait, we should wait"

"ah, ok, fine, it will make no difference if we waited outside the gates though"

a crunch resounds through the air, my heart thuds in my chest I turn swiftly, Deborah was already right in front of me hands raised.

"wait, it might be the girl you spelled"

"I can feel a faint sense of my magic, but someone could be tailing her as well, you can never be too cautious "

"true, we'll just have to wait and see then"

the dark silhouette of a young lady holding a swaddled baby in her arms, staggeringly walks towards us, we tense as she comes closer, looking around for any possible danger Blessing stops before us, eyes blank,face startlingly pale, I shoot Deborah a piercing look which she returns with a grin.

"is she going to be fine"

"she will, I'll cast another spell which will remove my influence and help her rest better tonight"

"good"

I nodded taking my baby

"I'll be waiting outside"

"there's a car outside right beside the gate it's open, just get in and wait there"

"we're taking a car?"

"well, we can't teleport there, so yes ma'am we're taking a car, get ready it will take awhile"

I walked briskly out of the gate, trying to be as silent as possible. Spotting the car just after walking out, i hugged my baby tightly to my chest rocking her gently, i covered her properly to guard against the cold as I sat in the comfortable warmth of the car

"Oww"

I rubbed at my forehead, staring heatedly at the door of the car, I groan

"you weren't asleep for long I just came in"

hmm I stare at her blankly

"let's go already?"

"ok ok chill, ... with a wild chuckle she turned the key in the ignition, revved up the car .let's go rewrite destiny "
