A Man's Way to Fight

The man made sure that nothing was wrong with Alexander's corpse, before picking up the little boat near his corpse and taking a look at it.

Since Alexander was about to use it to escape, it meant that it was an extraordinary item.

"This should be an extraordinary item of at least Sequence 6."

"I should get it back to Abby to divine its uses.", the man said.

Feeling slightly weak, the man took a deep breath to relax himself.

"It should be because I continuously used my abilities.", the man shook his head and thought.

Looking at Alexander's corpse, an intense disgust arose in him.

He wasted so much of his spirituality just to kill a low Sequence Beyonder.

At least, he managed to get an extraordinary item out of it.

Bending over to pick up Alexander's characteristics, the man was surprised to find out that nothing had come out.

"Something's off.", the man thought and quickly put up a defensive posture.

At that moment, the silhouette of a young man appeared in the alleyway and dashed towards him, while holding a dagger in his hand.

The man was already prepared for an ambush and quickly put his sword up, ready to defend his vitals.

Just as the silhouette's dagger was about to reach him however, a sudden gunshot resounded in the dark alley.

The man was shocked and looked down, only to find that a bullet had pierced through his heart.

"H..How?", he asked, clutching the left side of his chest.

However, nobody responded to his last question.

The silhouette walked towards the man's corpse, and took his mask off.

"As expected, this guy just wants to kill me.", the silhouette, Alexander said while looking at his ambusher's face.

The man that tried to kill him was the Judge he had met at Mr. A's gathering.

Of course, this was the real Alexander and not his incarnation.

As early as when he decided to visit Mr. A's gathering, Alexander was ready for a fight.

In the previous simulations, every single person that had killed him had a reason to do so, apart from this Sequence 6 Judge.

He doubted the reasons that the Judge had killed him and whether him joining MI9 would stop him.

So, Alexander made a simple plan, he gave his incarnation the Traveler's Ark and let it attend the gathering.

There, he requested the Barbarian formula, further reinforcing the idea that he was just a Sequence 9 Lawyer.

As he expected, the Judge followed him even after he became his "co worker" and attempted to kill him.

The panic in the previous fight was faked and his only real goal was to have the Judge touch the Traveler's Ark.

When he gave his clone the Traveler's Ark, Alexander had used Bribe-Arrogance and Bribe-Weaken.

Normally, you wouldn't be able to cast these spells if the item had passed through different people, but his incarnation was considered a part of him, meaning that the item had never actually left his hand.

Then, as the Judge had put down his guard because of his "death", Alexander decided to ambush him while he was weakened.

Ambushing a Sequence 6 Beyonder is pretty difficult and the ambush obviously failed.

However, Alexander's real target was never this.

When the Judge had prohibited the use of guns, Alexander had used the Distortion token to distort the shout into "Shooting is prohibited for me."

This meant that when the Judge thought that they were about to trade close quarter blows, he just straight up shot him point blank.

By now, Alexander had already learnt that the more complicated the plan, the easier it is to fail.

So, every plan he formulated had two main goals: make the enemy lower his guard and ambush them when they least expect it.

This was obviously not a "manly" way to fight, but the results were self evident.

The Judge was a corpse while he was here picking up his characteristics.

This didn't mean that the fight was a complete win however.

The death of his incarnation caused an injury on Alexander's spirit body and he would not be able to create a new incarnation for the next three days.

Feeling his state, he guessed that it would take about two days for his injury to completely heal.

Not questioning why it would heal so quickly, Alexander didn't pick up the Judge' characteristics first, but focused his attention on the sword.

The sword's hilt was golden, with a tiny purple ruby on its guard, while the blade itself was silver.

Picking it up, he prayed to his past self for the sword to be an extraordinary item.

While thinking about who the edgy guy that named the sword was, Alexander was very happy.

"As expected, my luck has changed for the better."

"This item is perfect for me.", Alexander thought and a smile appeared on his face as he stroked the silver sword.

It wasn't that he had received sword training or that he was familiar with swords, he just thought that using a sword was very cool.

He never understood why Roselle insisted on "inventing" guns.

Aren't cold weapons way cooler?

What an idiot.

At the same time, he wondered if the sword's downside would make him a protagonist.
