"Freaks"

or depending on the variation either "Walkers" or "Infected" etc.

The elevator opened with a characteristic sound. A gun's barrel emerged from within, scanning every corner of the area. Kakashi slowly made his way towards the reception desk where Homura should be, but it was empty.

"It looks like he runaway..." He walked behind the desk and used the computer used for guests registration. He knew that the computer could be used to take a preview from the cameras outside and inside, as well as the ones inside the underground parking lot.

"Goddammit..." He looked at the screen and cursed aloud. The driveway was blocked by three cars that crashed into each other. He could also see several Zombies either roaming between the cars or feasting over someone unfortunate enough to get caught.

"...ten...twelve...fourteen... at least 14. That much for using a car... For fucks sake." He raised his left hand and turned his wrist to look at the wristwatch. "14:26, I should make it in 30 minutes."

Suddenly he turned around and aimed his weapon ready to pull the trigger, but a familiar voice reached his ears.

"Whoa, whoa!!! Friendly, friendly!" It was Homura.

"Tsk! Don't sneak up idiot! I could have pulled the trigger!" Kakashi berated his friend.

"Sorry, old habits. But at least your hearing is all good, no?" Homura joked and put two backpacks on the desk. "I see you have already geared up." A brown-haired man said eyeing Li's equipment.

"Sorry, but I don't have time. I have to go for her." Kakashi wasn't surprised at his friend's carefree attitude. Both of them were friends back from the old times, both liked the Zombie games genre, and often joked, especially Homura, that it would be great if ever Zombie Apocalypse started. So it wasn't surprising that he can find out himself in this situation.

"I understand. But I don't recommend going for the car. Some shitheads panicked and blocked the exit and Infected are roaming the parking lot." Homura warned the black-haired man.

Kakashi nodded, he had already seen it on the CCTV. He reached inside his pocket tossed keys toward Homura. "Go to my apartment, it should be the safest place around. The lockers are already opened so grab whatever you want and watch the place till I come back."

He walked from behind the desk and started walking towards the exit from the building.

"Wait!" Homura shouted.

Kakashi turned around only to catch the key card attached to Homura's employee ID. "I already locked the gate. Use the back exit and alleys between the buildings. It should be safer, well, at least it's what they do in games." He shrugged and grabbed his backpack.

"Thanks. See you later." Kakashi said shortly and jogged towards the door with the big red words 'STAFF ONLY'.

"So it's only the five of us?" The brown-haired boy looked at the people around him. They were at the rooftop of their school's administration building.

"Some people had to hide inside the classrooms or somewhere else. We saw a small group running down the corridor." Tomoe said and looked down from over the railing. The growls of zombies below were sometimes interrupted by someone's scream.

"What should we do? I still can't reach the police nor anyone else..." Brown haired girl named Rei Miyamoto informed the group after she angrily squeezed Takashi's phone.

"Damn it... Do you still think it's a good idea to stay here? No one can even come here, we can starve and the situation could get even worse later! We may still have a chance if we go now." Ash-haired teenager, Hisashi Igo, proposed to his friends. He'd love to be rescued by the authorities but even the passing by S.F.D.'s helicopter didn't pay them attention.

"I'm not going anywhere. Kakashi said he's coming our way. I don't want to miss each other." Nino strongly opposed with her arms crossed under her breasts.

"You know," Takashi started and couldn't help but glanced at Nino's chest, which caused her to frown, "our school is in the city center. The streets have to be packed with 'Them'." He said pointing at the wandering groups of Zs below.

Nino's frown deepened. "What are you trying to say? That he won't come or that he will die?" She took a step closer to him, her fear was replaced by anger. "You don't know him! If he says he will come, he will come!"

"Hey, hey, calm down Nino. He didn't want to insult your boyfriend, right?" Tomoe stepped in and tried to calm down her friend. Nino grunted and made an annoyed expression but didn't press the matter further.

'Boyfriend? She has a boyfriend???' Takashi thought regretfully.

"But they are right, Nakano-san. Instead of depending on one man, we should depend on ourselves." Rei said after she walked toward the girls.

Nino and Tomoe met the other three on the stairs towards the roof. After they recognized each other and made sure none of them was bitten they made their way to the top. Nino was a very likable girl, she was getting along with everyone in the school, including boys and girls.

Nino told them that her bodyguard is coming for her so they should just wait and later escape together. But even if she didn't want to admit it, she knew that the situation was getting worse and worse as time passed by.

Takashi put his metal bat over his shoulder and walked towards the girls, with Hisashi following behind him.

"Listen, guys, we can't stay here forever." He looked at everyone. "Do you ha-!"

*BAM!*

*BAM!*

"Graaah!"

Suddenly the door to the rooftop smashed open, revealing several zombies coming their way.

"Shit! The lock was broken!" Takashi yelled as he swings his bat at the head of the first Zs.

Nino quickly ran behind the two boys and stared at the approaching walkers. 'There is too many of them!' She took a step back and hastily looked around. Her blue eyes widen.

"Guys! Let's go there!" She shouted pointing at the observatory.

Kakashi ran along the alley between the buildings. Hiding behind the trash container he twisted his wrist and checked the time.

"14.40..." He mumbled under his nose.

Just fourteen minutes passed, yet luck seemed to be on his side as he didn't encounter any zombies on his way. If they are the same as in the games and movies, then they should be active on the main streets where there is a lot of commotion. He fixed the bag he was carrying and continued running, carefully watching the surrounding.

When he reached the end of the building, he jumped to the wall and peeked behind the corner. A growling sound was heard, accompanied by the sound of hitting doors.

A few meters ahead, Kakashi saw one of the walkers banging his one remaining arm on the door, leaving bloody scratches on it. Kakashi let go of his AK and let it hang on the belt. Instead, he took out his KA-BAR and silently approached his target.

'Even with a suppressor, it would be too loud. Better take it out like that...' He knew that it wasn't a game. Suppressed weapons were still pretty loud and he didn't want to attract nearby Zs.

*Stab!*

When he gets behind the zombie, Kakashi immediately stabbed the lower back of the walker's skull, killing it permanently.

Glancing at his blade he frowned. The blood was darker than normal and thicker, almost like tar. He wiped it using a zombie's shirt and sheathed his knife, resuming his run.

'Just two more blocks...' He thought increasing his speed.

As he ran through the city he encountered a group of Them. Thankfully, none spotted him. 'Infected.' Kakashi judged by their spasmatic movements. Dealing with a group using a knife wasn't an option. He will have to make some noise.

Walking closer to the wall he aimed at the closer one, his finger calmly pulled the trigger. But before Kakashi pulled it completely, the back door of the shop swung open. He widened his black eyes and leaned even closer to the wall, the door completely covered him from the sight of zombies.

"Haah, haah, haah... nonononono, no! Get away from me, monsters!!!" It looked like someone just escaped one danger and fell right into another.

The infected were instantly alarmed by the intruder and screamed at his sight. The man ran to where Kakashi came from, but the infected were already behind him. One of them jumped on his back and sank its teeth in the man's shoulder.

"AAAAAAA!!!" The man started screaming at the top of his lungs but quieted right after the rest jumped on his body. The gurgling sound reached Kakashi!s ears, as well as the sound of munching flesh.

Kakashi seeing the opportunity, used it to quickly move through the alley. He didn't even spare a glance towards the stranger who created him this chance.

Several minutes later Kakashi successfully arrived near the Nino's school. Just across the street was the entrance gate to Fujimi Academy. But there was one problem. The area was flooded by tens of zombies.
