Jeric. My boss. Is in front of me, sharing a meal with me.
" You seem tensed." Jeric said.
I look up at him, studying him intently.
" I would like to recall the events that happened in just less than 20 minutes" I smile mockingly.
" I am all ears" he smiled. Though his eyes imply sarcasm.
I look at him once more, the fabric of his shirt looks expensive. I want to run my fingers through the dark blue shirt. I can smell his expensive perfume that reminded me of Joshua and I at the publishing house, reading and sharing ideas, turning down a piece just because it's too broad then feeling a little guilty and decided to revise it. How mischievous.
" Uh- hm"
" Right." Looking up again. I'm met with hazel coloured eyes. " I woke up this morning, feeling a little enthusiastic to rush for work." Lie. " And I met my boss on the way, saying that he hates to be the bringer of bad news. And Yet here we are sharing a meal together."
"I-
"Get to the point please" Jeric cut me off.
"Well. I was going to ask about the news you bring."
Staring at him. I'm met with eyes I can't seem to read.
" Joshua Arc. Does the name ring a bell?"
Yes. Joshua. The person who avoided me for weeks then suddenly wrote me a poem. Wow.
" Hm, we shared the same office" I implied. Safe answer. I applauded myself.
" Well, Yes. The both of you seem close. If it doesn't offend the gentleman, I'd ask if you two are somehow a thing?"
I frowned at his question. A thing? Can we- I consider our fling a thing? Are we in a relationship of some sort.
Jeric seemed to notice I was beginning to be closed off.
" I withdraw the question if you dislike the notion."
His words seem too formal for my liking.
I kept silent.
