It had been six days since Vintner took Darryl to the baseball game. Vintner hadn't been down to the ball fields since. He hadn't been able to go. Every day something else came up that needed his attention. Every day he had something else to do to prepare for what was coming. After meeting with Jim, however, Vintner needed to forget. He wanted to see joy again. He wanted to watch people playing. He wanted to see Darryl and his friends play the beautiful, pointless game of baseball. He wanted to see Darryl twirl his bat and then swing from his heels, his front shoulder up, and knock the ball out over the heads of the outfielders.
