James and Lilith were a sight to behold as they went down the stairs. Lilith's long silver hair was let down to cascade on her back, a sign of the count's lineage. She wore a royal blue dress with gold embroideries and her smile captivated the guests. One would argue that even their great princess Bella did not compare to the count's daughter. Lady Lilith looked like an angel who would suddenly disappear from reality leaving people to wonder if she really was there in the first place.

"Fellow lords and ladies, I would like to introduce to you all my daughter, Lilith Scarrow", James announced as he stared lovingly at his daughter who curtsied greeting the other nobles. In true Lilith fashion, she was already observing everyone intently seeking possible alliances.

"I humbly make your acquaintance, I do hope we could get along", she said as she curtsied and handed her hand to James who would be her first dance. It was hard for her to not feel a bit sentimental as she and James twirled on the dance floor.

"You look lovely today Lilith", he complemented. "Lilian would be so happy to see you, all grown up", he said a tinge of sadness running through his eyes. It didn't take a genius to figure out that James loved Lilian, even Lilith could see it.

"Thank you", I said softly. There was something missing, I should say more. After careful consideration, I decided to be brave and take the next step. "Thank you, father"

His eyes immediately brightened but he didn't say a word as he led me off the dance floor.

"Lord James, it's been a long time", a middle-aged man with brown locks along with the countess approached me and James.

"Marquess Amber,", James acknowledges the hostility between them clearly showing. "This is Lilith, my daughter", he introduced and I curtsied, greeting the snake.

"Lady Lilith seems to be a fine lady, considering her lack of education", Julius Amber commented, clearly looking down at me. I wasn't going to let this go and I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of seeing me in disarray.

"Thank you, Marquess, I'm trying my best to cover that gap in my knowledge. It's a shame that sister Melisa is not able to help me as she seems as clueless as I am", I said my smile still in tow.
