Head home

"Do you like Laureen?" Alexis asks. I start to get nervous. No, there's no way. I mean, how could I like someone even though I barely know them? Besides, it's only second day here. Not to mention my second day knowing Laureen. So yeah, there's no way...right?

"I mean," I answer nervously. "I like her as a friend if that's what you mean..."

"Well yeah," she responds. "Laureen is a great friend. She's a really good person."

"Yeah," I sigh relieved, "she's an amazing friend. I'm glad I ran into her, then I met you guys and yesterday was a bunch of fun."

"Yeah, I got a cheeseburger." We both laugh.

"Anyway, I better head home I have to check up on something. I mean, my dad is home but still."

"Alright, see you tomorrow."

"See you." I say as I walk out the school and start walking home.

I'm mad at myself. Why did I answer like that? I mean, it's not like I LIKE her in that way. I barely know her. I mean, yeah, I think she's attractive. But looks aren't everything. So far we're really good friends even though we barely know each other, which is good. Even though she barely knows me, I feel like I've known her forever.

But that's just how our friendship is. Besides, she could be straight for all I know. There's no way she's into me. I mean, I'm not into her that way, right? Right?

I reach my house and go in. Dad's nust sitting there in the living room while Mom's at work. They work separate days on weekdays, but they work together every other weekend. They both work this weekend, so I'll be home alone. Well, not anymore. Shawn, the cat, is sitting on Dad's lap, sleeping. He has a little cast on his paw.

"Hey kiddo," Dad notices me, "have good day at school?"

"Yup!" It's kind of lying because of Evelyn, but also not really cause she got arrested. But also Sam is in the hospital. It's complicated. "Is the cat alright?"

"Oh he's been doing great, he seems really happy here. He didn't have a collar, there's been no missing reports or posters about him, and no one has really owned him before. He's actually pretty young."

"So..." I ask with sparkling eyes, "can we keep him?"

"Me and your mother already agreed last night we would if therewas no owner. It seems there isn't, so yes."

"Yayyyy," I celebrate with joy. Now I need so text Laureen. She may not see it yet, but she will eventually.

Author's note: Hey guys, I know I usually update later during the day, but not only have I had the worse headache, my stomach doesn't like me not pucking. I'm sorry if I don't get as much righting as I plan done. I try my hardest. I hope you understand, thanks.
