Alexis' crush

I head to the cafeteria and find my friends. I sit down with them. I know we're not leaving for lunch, we're going to be doing that once in a while. It'll be special.

When I sit down, I scan the lunchroom and don't see Evelyn. Laureen isn't here yet. I just brush it off and say, "So...do you guys like digital art?" and out of all the things I say. I'm about to low key facepalm.

"Actually," Alexis pops up in excitement, "I do digital art. It takes a while, but I usually post it on a few of my social media accounts. People really seem to like it, and I'm actually almost done with my next project." Wait, did I actually say something right? I'm not awkward? What the hell is this?!

"Oh cool," I play it off, "what's it about?"

"Well," she tell me all about it, "it's a girl spraying graffiti. The graffiti says, 'Society's Standards,' with a big red x over it. She has her hair up and a mask covering her nose and mouth. Her mask is black with a bright, white grin."

"That's so cool," I reply. "I think people will like it."

"She's really talented with that tablet of hers," Mark smiles as he compliments her. It's good he's smiling. His life is so hard, it's great that Alexis' passion makes him happy.

"O-oh," Alexis seems flustered. "It's nothing..."

"You do realize I'm following all your accounts just to look at the art. I like on the different posts. It's how I show my support." He compliments.

She's blushing. She either doesn't get compliments that often, or she likes Mark. When she wanted to be accepted, when she asked my thoughts on the community, she never specified if she was lesbian, pansexual, or bisexual. She could be asexual, but she doesn't really give off those vibes. There's a chance she likes Mark.

"T-thanks..." she mutters blushing as red as her lipstick.

"Hey, here comes Laureen," I change the subject. Laureen doesn't look happy. She looks really pissed. I wonder what's wrong and I want to help. I really do, I want Laureen to be happy. She deserves it.

"Guess what," she sneers angrily, "guess what those asshole teachers decided to do."

"What?" Alexis seems kinda scared. Her red face turned pale in a second.

"They knew about the fight," Laureen clenches her fists, she's about to kill someone. "but they didn't care that Evelyn verbally harrassed Mark and came back for more. They didn't care we were swearing. Well, sort of. I got in trouble because I called Evelyn a 'Plastic whore'. Mostly the whore part. Apparently even that's too strong. The only teacher that doesn't like what Evelyn did doesn't really like Evelyn that much for her homophobia. And transphobia. That's Nellie. He's the only good teacher in this God forsaken hell hole."

"Who's Nellie?" I ask, I really don't know.

"Oh," she calms down A LOT. "Mr. Nelson Arrowood. He tells us to call him Nellie."

"Huh, I don't think he mentioned that. Probably cause I was late yesterday."

"Yeah, probably."

As Laureen is complaining and going on, I realize something. I wonder if Alexis likes Mark, I really do. However, this morning Evelyn said something to Alexis. When she was mad, she mentioned that Alexis can't handle her own feelings. That she can't understand them. She likes Mark, doesn't she?
