I'm starting to really get into this whole stone thing. It's not like I actually have a choice. Either this or I let dagger take over this world and I never get Logan back.
I forgot to explain this but the last thing I got from that shop was a paper. It was kind of like a riddle.
You must venture forth to the kingdom north, Retrieve from the beast and then you must travel east, Find what was stolen at the end of the west, find the traitor who has turned unlike the rest, The paper had said.
Now Alex knows about my whole situation. Sometimes I regret telling her about everything. She doesn't seem like the type to keep a secret, but so far she hasn't told anyone so I kind of trust her. To me the paper only looked like one thing: Quest! And there were only two people with me right now who I could trust: Alex and Malcom!
After I had gathered up Malcom and Alex, we sat down on the ground in the middle of the village. Right when I was about to explain to Malcom about me meeting an old man he blabbered it all out.
" Why didn't you tell me you were some destined hero? It's not nice to keep secrets from your friends, " he said.
I glared at Alex. She shrugged her shoulders in innocence like she did nothing wrong.
" Right, about that," I put the paper in the middle of our little circle.
" What's this?," Malcom asked.
" It's some type of riddle," I answered. " I want to figure out the meaning of it."
" Well," Malcolm read it. " Up north is Navial, the snow kingdom. And I have no idea what beast you would have to get something from."
" Up east is Jadia, it's in the desert,"Alex said, " And a traitor doesn't sound very good.
The traitor part reminded me of something.
I must say, you cannot always count on friends, he had said before he turned to dust.
I decided not to share that part.
"All this only means one thing," Malcolm grinned. " Quest!"
"Huh?," I looked at him in confusion.
" You're a hero, right? When you see stuff like this you gotta have a quest."
" One, I'm not a hero," I told him. " And two, even if I had to go on a quest I probably would die the first day if I had to go by myself."
"Thats why we're going to go with you,"Malcom put his arm around Alex's Shoulder.
" I didn't agree to this," Alex said.
I thought about this for a while. I didn't want to get my friends involved in any of this. I didn't want to put them in danger.
" No," I decided.
"If you don't let us come we'll have to tell Callan that your leaving," Alex said.
" You just- Fine."
I didn't understand why everyone I knew had to be so stubborn. Welp, It's better to go with someone than go alone.
That day before night time came I spent alot of time looking at that glove Mr. Raymond gave me. For some reason I was afraid to put it on.
Everytime I put my hand near it I yanked it away and told myself nope.
After a while of second thoughts I decided to put the glove on. At first nothing abnormal happened, everything was calm at the moment then the glove started to glow blue. I tried to take it off but it wouldn't budge. I felt my wrist start to get extremely stiff until I couldn't move the joint at all. Blackness started to spread around my hand. I tried not to blink but when I did it was as if I didn't even put the glove on.
The glove was nowhere to be found and my hand was perfectly fine. I shouldn't have expected anything different from that though.
The rest of the day was as normal as it could get. Malcom decided we should leave at night while everyone else was asleep. And he was supposed to be on patrol tonight so there wouldn't be anybody to stop us.
The one person who requested we go on this quest forgot to bring food and waited till we got for away from the abandoned village to notice that.
" You idiot!," Alex scolded at her brother while hitting him in the back of his head.
" I'm sorry I was in a rush!," Malcom said in defense.
" You had all day to pack and you forgot to bring the two most important things; food and water."
" Actually," Malcolm pointed at our horses. " Shouldn't they be the most important thing for our quest."
" Horses are living. I'm talking about things that aren't living."
" Hate to inturupt yor little argument but we don't wanna delay this quest, do we?," I told them. " Although I do agree it's pretty idiotic for the person who thought of this quest to not bring food, we can just stop somewhere like a stable and buy something."
" I don't have any coins on me," Alex said.
" Me neither," said Malcom.
" Guess we'll have to hold on for a while then," I decided.
I noticed something was missing.
" Malcolm please tell me you had enough sense to bring a map," I asked.
" Oh yeah, we have a long way to go. Of course we'll need a map," he looked inside his satchel and pulled out a old nearly torn piece of paper and handed it to me.
" It'll only make sense to go to Nevial first, even though we're closest to Jadia and Paxton. It was the first line so it'll be our first step," I said.
" I have a question," Alex said.
" Yes?."
" What is this whole quest even for," She asked.
" We're going to take back Paxton."
