A pair of frightening red eyes. A wide-mouth with many dreadful fangs messily line-up. Naked body with a countless hole scattered within the body. That was the first thing Reinn saw upon he turned around.
'Is this creature what haunted me these past days?' Reinn thought to himself before his vision slowly blackened as his body kept moving forward to the creature.
'No! No! I must keep myself sober.' Reinn tried to struggle, but it was gone naught since his body didn't even listen to his plea.
'Will I die here? What about Sylvia then? Who's gonna take care of her? Can she live alone? Where's father and mother?' They say when you're on the verge of death, your head would be muddled by many things. This what happened on the current Reinn. He was puzzled, confused, angry, mad, sad, and scared at how things turn to be.
He still wanted to live longer. He still had a family he needs to take care of and his own life. But, this was the real world. There's no such thing as the sudden burst of power like any hero in a fantasy world. There's no cheat system where you'll be granted an unknown power. There's only himself. You can only count on yourself.
Before his sight completely darkens, a scorching flame abruptly emerged from the creature's feet, coating the creature in flame in the next second. Instantly, his body breaks free from the invisible shackle that controlling him. Stumbled backward, Reinn collapsed on his knees and started coughing harshly.
"Black blood?" Reinn mumbled after registering what's thing did his mouth release. It turns out he was coughing a lot of black blood.
"Wait! How about that creature?" Reinn realized that there wasn't only him at the moment and immediately looked up to check the creature's condition after being burned.
As he looked up, a young man wearing a blue jacket with an image of fire on the edge of the jacket was standing in front of him. On the opposite of him was the creature that is currently holding its head and seems in a painful state as he struggled back and fro like an earthworm getting exposed to salt.
"Fredo! What're you doing? Quick, cast another spell on that filthy creature!" The young-man commanded before a timid voice sounded from his own room terrace, "O-okay!"
Within a couple of seconds, Reinn narrowed his eyes when sharp winds blowing from his room's direction. The winds then circling the burned creature, increasing the flame denseness. With the pain escalated, the creature letting out an agony shriek, resulting in Reinn had to cover his ears because the sounds were so disturbing.
The scream lasted for a few seconds before it gradually ceased. Opening his tightly shut eyes, Reinn uncovers his ears and blinked his eyes several times to adjust his eyesight before landing at the spot where a burned creature lying motionlessly on the ground.
"Is it dead?" Reinn muttered, not knowing who he was asking, himself, or the people who strangely appeared inside his house.
"It should be." The guy with a blue jacket on responded as he approached the creature and kicked its head lightly.
"It's dead," The guy confirmed before looking at Reinn's room, "Fredo, come here."
"Y-yes!" A timid voice sounded as the voice owner slowly revealed into Reinn's eyes.
It was a girl with surprisingly short-height around 150 cm. With big eyeglasses on, she looked cute with her twin-tail hair wagging around the air as she runs carrying a backpack.
"Just pick some of its hair, nail, and fingerprint. Also, don't forget to wear gloves. I don't want my partner's hands covered by the blood of a vile creature." The man said coldly, but Reinn could discern a tone of affection within his voice.
"Roger!" The woman nodded her head before squatted down and unzipping her bag to grab her tools.
After issuing the command, the door belongs to Sylvia's room suddenly creaked a little.
"Who's there?" The man warily turned around as he directed his hand to Sylvia's room, ready to launch his spell.
"Wait! Wait! That's my little sister." Reinn stepped forward and blocked the man's sight by spreading his arms.
"W-what happened bro Reinn? Are they are a thief? Should I call the police?" Sylvia slammed the door shut and shouted in a shaky voice.
"I'm not sure, but don't call the police yet." Reinn shouted back as he stared in vigilance at the man before him, "Who are you?"
The man shoved his hand into his pocket before retract it and showed Reinn an identification card, "My name is Lucas, and I'm one of the students from Krix Academy."
"Krix Academy, the Academy of Arcane?" Reinn exclaimed in shock.
The man nodded his head without explaining, but his gaze was filled with pride and arrogance.
With Earth divided into two sides, the continent Reinn stayed was ruled by five great academies. One of them was Krix Academy that placed in the centre of Aether Continents. Being able to meet one of its students could be considered a blessing for normal people.
"So, your purpose coming here was to catch that creature?" Luke inquired while pointing at the motionless creature who's currently in the middle of getting inspected by the girl.
"Yes, last night incident that occurred close to your house was caused by that vile creature. You're lucky that we managed to track its down, considering how tricky this creature is." The man said disgustedly.
Patting his chest in relief, Reinn sincerely thanked the man, "Thank you."
The man nodded his head and proceed to squat down inspecting the creature, while Reinn silently watched them from the side in curious.
