The room they were sitting in was not really bright. It was mainly because there was no natural light in The void, and there was no electricity or anything like that in this place, making some hand-made lights and candles the only stuff that could light up the area. 

The light inside the room was not of the kind that Kairen was used to, so he had chosen a spot darker than the other parts of the room to sit in as the light made his eyes sore. On the other hand, Reynold's face, sitting right opposite Kairen and close to the source of light inside the room, was lit completely. It was as if he was emanating light himself. His face was so bright that Kairen thought he would suddenly ascend to the heavens or something. Among his anger and confusion, this thought made him chuckle inwardly by imagining the all-serious Reynold suddenly moving up into the air in his sitting position.
