Beast tides would occur when the numbers of Profound Beasts grew too high. They would widen their territory, and that would inevitably clash with the human territory. Countless Profound Beasts would charge into human cities, terrifying everyone.
Though humans were always able to handle them, as most of the strongest Profound Beasts made the deepest part of the forest their home and didn't really care about the human territories.
