"Oohh!"
"Did he really do that? Tell me I didn't imagine it?"
"Shit, he really pushed him!"
"Oh my god did you see that? What is he thinking?! Yujin's nearby!"
"Did Yujin see that?!"
"Of course he did! He's close to the scene!"
"Wow, I can't believe Chunhee would do such a thing!"
The murmurs became louder and louder, some even fished out their phones and began taking pictures of the poor student on the floor. Nobody dared to help the student as the majority only wanted to talk about Chunhee's reaction that was clearly new and unexpected.
Daehyun, who was frozen in shock, finally blinked. He glanced at the poor student on the floor, debating whether to help him or run after his friend. In the end, he sighed and chose the latter.
"Chunhee! Chunhee, wait!" Daehyun shouted as he chased his friend.
Chunhee went to change his uniform in a restroom, his face cold, clearly unfriendly. Daehyun was panting as he reached his friend.
"Chunhee-ah, you know it was just an accident! Do you really have to push him?" Daehyun exclaimed to his friend. He was half worried the students who saw the scene would conclude things right away, judging his precious friend, and half worried about Chunhee's behavior himself.
Chunhee took a deep breath and didn't dare glance at Daehyun, his eyes focused on an object he was washing under the faucet.
Daehyun glanced at the necklace on Chunhee's hands, tainted by the juice. He knew how Chunhee held emotional attachment to the object as it was given by his late grandmother. Chunhee's grandmother's favorite grandchild was Chunhee and she always gave him the best things whether Chunhee requested for it or not. So when she died, Chunhee extremely went through grief. It was a horrible event in his life and most the probably the worst one yet. He didn't eat nor sleep for days and just continued crying and crying that he eventually collapsed. If not for Yujin who persuaded him to eat, the 11-year-old Chunhee would've already died.
Now Daehyun understood where the sudden anger came from. He couldn't help but sigh. He had always thought Chunhee was a perfect person. Chunhee always loved and understood people, smiled and accepted their apologies whenever he was wronged, always keeping a good expression, never revealing his angry or hateful sides. But now, he seemed to had just shown his true emotion...
Now, he seemed more... real.
Daehyun helplessly smiled. He grabbed the dirty uniform of Chunhee, and asked him to go to the cafeteria to grab some snacks which the latter just nodded at. Some things were better spoken than seen, and some were better seen than spoken. One's true self becomes more beautiful when it was the latter.
While walking, Chunhee and Daehyun unexpectedly saw Yujin and three other members of the student council walking towards their direction.
Chunhee's heart pounded, suddenly feeling goosebumps all over his body the moment he saw them.
He remembered these boys. They were in Chunhee and Yujin's future, specifically in the wedding venue and they were the ones who spoke of Yujin's affair to Chunhee. These boys... were the ones who presented Chunhee the evidenceーpictures, videos, everything related to Yujin's affair. They presented it to Chunhee, all with mocking and twisted joy-filled eyes. Just recalling that event already gave Chunhee goosebumps. He certainly could feel how twisted those boys' heads were.
Chunhee couldn't help but wonder why Yujin would hang out with these kinds of two-faced thugs.
"Chunhee, Yujin was there earlier... Maybe you should explain what really happened," Daehyun said to Chunhee.
"No, it's okay. Let it be," Chunhee responded, thoughts still lingering on the faces of Yujin's friends in the student council.
His eyes stared at them, trying to assess them, then they finally landed on Yujin's face. Yujin, with his usual indifferent attitude, passed by without giving a glance nor a word to Chunhee and Daehyun.
Daehyun sighed in frustration, "He clearly misunderstood you, Chunhee-ah! Argh. I'll talk to him later in the greenhouse."
Chunhee smiled and gave a comforting pat on Daehyun's shoulder. "It's fine." It was what I wanted after all. The more Yujin hates me, the better.
