The army unit was in the middle of a meeting when they were interrupted by the voice of the security officer.
"Sir!"
"What is it?" Claude asked, somewhat displeased.
However, the guard stammered and kept glancing at Claude.
"Speak!" Claude frowned and barked sternly.
The guard raised his head and stared at the ceiling as he replied loudly, "Sir! We received a call from the police station. Your wife hit someone until he became unconscious and is now being questioned at the police station."
"What?" Claude looked at him in shock.
Laurie's thin figure appeared in front of him again. How could this little woman fight with others? She even knocked him unconscious?
The other colleagues in the meeting room all gasped in shock. They all knew that Claude got married in a flash, but they didn't expect him to get hitched to a demonic shrew! Since the police station had already called the army, the leaders of the various army units would probably know the news soon.
When the guard heard Claude's query, he still kept his head up and stared at the ceiling as he repeated, "Sir! We received a call from the police station…"
"Stop!" Claude stood up. "I'm sorry. You guys continue with the meeting. I have something to attend to."
With that, he strode out of the meeting room.
Once in the car, Claude contacted Mike immediately.
The patriarch of Mike's family was the head of the Ministry of Public Security. After Mike was discharged from the army, he was arranged to work in the Ministry of Public Security straight away. It would be best for him to help with Laurie's matter.
However, when Mike answered the call, he became thoroughly confused. "What did you say? Your wife knocked someone unconscious? What's her name? Which police station?"
"She's called Laurie. She's at the police station near Prestige View Park. Go and ask about the situation first. We'll be there soon." After saying that, Claude ended the phone call and accelerated repeatedly as he sped to the police station.
At this point, the staff at the police station was also having a headache. The two sisters both insisted that they knocked down Gary on their own, and it would take time to investigate the crime scene. Now, the investigation was in a deadlock.
Mike asked for brief details of the whole incident. After seeing the photos of the scene and Laurie's interrogation report, he had a rough idea.
He thought that a person who could knock someone unconscious would definitely be a big and burly aggressive shrew, but he did not expect the culprit to be a very beautiful slender woman.
At this moment, in the interrogation room, a policewoman's uniform was draped over Laurie's body. There were clear signs that her nightgown had been torn. Even if she did not say anything, the police had a rough guess as to what she had experienced.
Nonetheless, Mike knew that if it was really as he thought, at most, Laurie would be charged with being overly defensive and would not be given a heavy sentence. However, it would difficult for him to explain to Claude.
More than ten minutes later, Claude arrived at the police station.
When he saw Mike in the hall, he asked at once, "How is she?"
Mike was a little hesitant. "Claude, listen to me. You have to calm down."
"Calm down?" Claude narrowed his eyes dangerously. "She's injured?"
Mike brought Claude to the surveillance room helplessly. He had already arrived at the police station earlier. At this point, Claude also saw Laurie in the surveillance footage.
A dangerous aura immediately emanated from Claude's whole body.
"Who did this to her?" His voice was very low, but Mike knew that Claude was about to go ballistic.
"She's fine. She just got a bad fright and wasn't... Ahem, in any case, she must have tried to fight back." The more Mike spoke, the more awkward he felt. If it were his woman who had suffered such an attack, he might also be so angry that he wanted to kill the perpetrator.
Claude, however, did not seem to hear his explanation. Instead, he repeated, "I'm asking you. Who did this to her?"
When he saw that Mike was a little hesitant, Claude understood the whole story at once.
"It's her elder brother-in-law, right? Where is he?" Claude's anger was almost boiling over now and the police officers beside him also felt very suffocated by his aura.
"He's in the intensive care unit of the hospital." Mike shrugged. "I don't think you need to avenge your wife. She was ruthless enough. The lamp hit the back of the other party's head. Now, the other party is still undergoing emergency treatment for the brain hemorrhage."
Mike did not know if that person was lucky or unlucky. It was fortunate that he did not have to face Claude's anger directly, but it was unfortunate that he would probably not regain consciousness for a while. Even if he regained consciousness, Claude would never let him off.
In the end, with Mike's help, Claude still managed to bail Laurie and Gina out.
The moment she saw Claude, Laurie couldn't hold back the tears in her eyes.
When the police wanted to contact her family, the only person she could think of was Claude. She didn't expect him to actually show up.
"Sorry. I've caused you trouble." Laurie forced back her tears, but her voice was already choking on her tears.
Claude took off his coat and draped it over her body. Then, he clumsily stroked the top of her head with his big hand. "Don't worry. I'll take care of everything."
