Chapter 37: Wolf Things

The witch turned her gaze to him slowly as her arms became engulfed in flames. Her eyes began to glow brightly as, one by one, smaller fires began to pop up around them, joining one another and engulfing everything in flames. While her back was turned, Darren saw an opportunity to strike and grabbed the back of Josie’s shirt, expecting to be able to sling her like a ragdoll. A seismic pulse shot from the witch, knocking Darren into the wall with a sickening thud. Josie glanced over her shoulder with a smile before turning her attention back to Rakesh.

As she stepped forward, an invisible force seemed to grip Darren by one of his ankles and slowly drag him along with her. With every step, she somehow singed the floor beneath her, leaving blackened footprints in her wake. He stumbled backwards, trying to make sure he wasn’t engulfed in the flames his lover had conjured.
