Chapter 21: Looking for Clues

Rakesh stepped out of the shower, greeted by the sounds of rain on the rooftops. As he dried himself off, he looked down at the black screen of his phone and frowned slightly. He tapped the screen and saw that there were no notifications waiting on him.

‘Okay, Martin.’ He wrapped his towel around his waist. ‘Since when do you not answer?’

With a heavy sigh, he grabbed his phone and left the bathroom. He grabbed some jeans and an old band tee that he hadn’t seen in ages. He put it on with a nostalgic smile, completely distracted from Josie, who was sneaking up behind him. From behind, he felt her arms wrap around his waist and her head rest on his back. The feeling of her body against his was a calming, safe haven in the storm that was his anxious thoughts.

“I could hear your brain all the way down the hall.” Her muffled voice confessed. “Changed the air in the house.”

“I’m that obvious, am I?” Rakesh smirked as he turned to face her. “I'm fine, though. It's just...”
