Chapter 19: Second Thoughts

Josie stood at her table, skimming through the book she used for Rakesh’s potion, but since there was nothing of any use, she tossed the volume back onto the shelf. As it let out a small thunk, the sound of her phone’s message alert grabbed her attention.

“New patient.” She mumbled to herself. “She’s new to town, but can’t afford insurance till new job starts. Checks out. Do I have the green light?”

Josie let out a trembling sigh as a ball of nerves formed in the pit of her stomach. With the Lazarus Collective so close, the witch couldn’t help but feel wary of everything around her. However, she was sure she could trust her contacts from town. After all, she had cured every single malady and jumbled-up mess they brought her way. She took comfort in believing that her services and kindness meant something to them.

“Green light. You know what to do.” Josie read her message over a couple of times before hitting send.
