La Rue looked up at her name and saw all eyes were on her, all worried. She turned to Thyrious and gave him her questioning look.

He just stared at her, as if seeing a ghost. She stepped back, uncertain what was going on, but then she heard Embry say a name she hoped she'd never hear again. "Hans..."

Thyrious held his hand up to his friend as soon as La Rue's eyes went fearful. She knew that name. She knew who this person was.  And she was scared. "La Rue?"

"No!" she cried, shaking her head and backing herself into the corner.

Thyrious held up his hands to her and shook her head. "La Rue, no hurt. No hurt from enemy."

She glared at him, then at the other two. "No. No Hans. No enemy. Hans away! Hans no!"

Embry swallowed audibly. Isobel clung to her mate with concern. Thyrious held out his hand for La Rue. "No. La Rue stay. La Rue no run."

Her lip trembled. "La Rue run, yes. La Rue hurt. Hans hurt La Rue!"

Thyrious shook his head slowly. "No run, La Rue. Stay. Safe. La Rue safe. Thyrious no let hurt La Rue."

She still didn't look convinced, but before she could bolt, he captured her around the waist and held her to him. She broke down, shaking her head and hitting Thyrious half-heartedly.

He turned to Embry. "Get him away from here. Do whatever you must. Take as many as you want to intimidate him. Just get him away."

Embry nodded and left. Isobel cleaned up after the day with La Rue, but then left the room, leaving the two alone.

"La Rue, safe here. No more running. No more fear. Always stay," he murmured into her ear.

"Hans!" she cried.

"Embry will keep him away. No hurt will come to La Rue. Thyrious will fight to save La Rue."

She cried harder. When he tried to pick her up and carry her home, she thrashed and screamed, thinking he'd take her to Hans and give her away. Thyrious only held her tighter and strode outside, thanking Isobel on the way. He then went home, his female fighting halfway there before she grew limp.

Thyrious looked down at her and saw she had passed out. Her eyes flitted behind her lids and she moaned in her sleep. Frowning, he finished his route and laid her in bed, carefully covering her up. Sitting beside her, he stared in wonder at the female who had become his life in the past week. Ever since she snuck up on him in the woods, he couldn't leave her for long periods of time. Today had been the first, and it had been difficult.

A realization came to him and he gave a low growl from deep within, then he quieted. He didn't want to wake her. Kissing her gently on the head, he went to the kitchen and began to make dinner. When it was done, she still hadn't woken, so he ate alone, then went and dressed for bed. Instead of sleeping on the couch like he had been, he got in beside her and pulled her close. She curled into him and wrapped a fist into his shirt.
