A few minutes later, I heard, “Where’re we goin’?” Rich asked as he came out of the den still rubbing his eyes.
“Lucille’s Oklahoma Road House over by Target,” Pat answered.
“I heard that was good,” he yawned. Then he saw me. “Hi Mish, just get in?”
“No, I’ve been here for hours watching you sleep.” Everyone laughed.
He wasn’t sure I was serious but at least he smiled.
It took a few minutes to get us all into the two cars. Lizzy wanted to ride with Auntie Emily and Cousin Mishy, so we climbed into Dad’s car with Mom and Aunt Ellen and headed into town.
The restaurant was full and we had to wait about twenty minutes before a table for eight could be arranged. We were finally seated and started to look at our menus. Good God! I hadn’t had some of these foods in months. I ended up ordering ribs, although the steak Dad got sure looked tempting, too.
“So, you travel all over the country,” Dad started. “It sounds like a serious job!”
“Yes, but I love it.”
