Chapter 7: Mission Summary

After facing a barrage of sarcastic comments from the system and losing his G3 armor, Kaito Haruno had no intention of lingering outside. His current Armament Haki could only handle a knife, and this was a country where guns were freely available. What would he do if he happened to encounter a gun-wielding robber? Surrender or hand over his money?

Realizing this, Kaito jogged back home, inevitably enduring more sarcastic remarks from his system about being a coward. He didn't argue; as an ordinary civilian with zero combat skills, he understood his limitations. Being transported to another world was already a tough break, and even with a system, his commoner's mindset couldn't be flipped overnight. Just because he had a golden finger didn't mean he could go around acting tough—he lacked the necessary skills for that.

"Phew, I'm back!" After running from the northern district to his home in the eastern district, even Kaito, with his enhanced physique, felt exhausted.

At least he looked like someone who had just finished playing basketball, so Scarlett and Jonathan wouldn't find it strange.

After washing up, he glanced at the system notification indicating he had 22 hours left, and he fell into a deep sleep. There was no way around it; no matter how anxious he felt, he needed to sleep—after all, there was still time.

"小TAKA, your mission is quite serious this time. Please patrol New Nuo City continuously. If you come across any thefts, pinpoint their location for me; I'll take care of them tonight!"

Upon receiving Kaito's instructions, TAKA nodded and flew off, while Kaito got ready and headed downstairs for school.

He had a plan: the mission deadline was 8:30 PM, and school ended at 4:30 PM, leaving him with four hours of active time. He wasn't counting on just randomly finding thieves. Instead, he decided to experiment with his idea. Generally, crimes like theft and robbery follow a process. After stealing or robbing something, one still needs a way to sell the stolen goods and convert them into cash for the crime to be considered complete—except for cash itself.

So, Kaito decided not to rely on luck and instructed TAKA to patrol the city, locating individuals who had completed the stealing or robbing phase but hadn't yet sold the items. He could then track them down one by one, incapacitating them and calling the police, effectively preventing crime. Of course, he wouldn't limit TAKA to just nine targets; the more, the better—who knows if they would have sold the items by the time he got to them?

[Stopped the second crime, 8 remain.] While on the bus to school, Kaito, now accustomed to using Observation Haki, detected a sleazy man trying to take advantage of the crowded commute.

Taking advantage of his physicality, he quickly knocked the guy on the head, perfectly preventing a harassment incident. To his surprise, this also counted as completing a task.

"Wow, Kaito Haruno, well done!"

As Kaito was about to enter the school, he felt a tap on his shoulder from Kara behind him, causing him to jump forward in shock. Turning back, he found Kara smiling at him, a bit startled. [What the hell, why did she tap my shoulder? Is she crazy?] He had activated his Observation Haki; how did she know what he did on the bus?

Kara hadn't expected to see this scene while going to school with her sister. As a Kryptonian, even without training like Superman, she had lived on Earth for twelve years and had naturally picked up on the powers Kryptonians possessed here. Even though she wasn't in the same vehicle as Kaito, her super vision combined with X-ray vision allowed her to see everything happening on the road. But why was Kaito looking so terrified? Did she seem frightening to him? Or was his racing heartbeat out of fear, not attraction? Kara's mind raced with possibilities, causing her once sunny smile to fade slightly.

"Oh my god, Kara, could you please not sneak up on me like that? I have a low tolerance for surprises." Noticing Kara's smile beginning to wane, Kaito quickly explained.

"Really? But you're so fierce when you're playing games! By the way, why didn't you react when I called you Kaito Haruno? I remember you insisted we call you by your Chinese name in class." Kara frowned.

Hearing this, a vague memory surfaced in Kaito's mind, and he realized his behavior today was a bit strange. "Oh, it doesn't matter; Kaito and Kē Wén sound similar, so it's all good. Besides, being fierce while playing doesn't mean I'm brave. You might want to adjust that perception."

"Okay, I'll stick with calling you Kē Wén; it rolls off the tongue better. Sorry about that." Kara accepted Kaito's poor excuse without any suspicion, even apologizing to him.

"Then I guess that's settled. If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way. See you later!" Kaito had no desire to chat with the powerful Kryptonian girl any longer, so he quickly dashed into the school, leaving Kara standing there, momentarily stunned.

"He's lying, Kara. He's afraid of you. Have you revealed any of your powers lately, making him notice?" Emil, who had secretly joined the super-powered investigation team, deduced from Kaito and Kara's conversation that Kaito was lying. Given her close relationship with her brother, she could easily trace the source of the situation back to Kara.

"No way! You've always walked to school with me, so you know what I've been doing, Emil. How did you figure out he was lying?" Kara asked, genuinely curious.

"Just a hunch."

"Ha-ha."

Their brief conversation ended, and Kaito continued to maintain his Observation Haki as a form of training. After all, Kaito knew how to train Armament Haki but didn't have a proper place to do so. He might as well practice his Observation Haki. It was a powerful ability, especially for warning and sensing opponents' movements; there was no reason for Kaito to give it up.

Watching the time slip away in his mind, Kaito felt restless. As soon as the afternoon school bell rang, he bolted out of the doors, eager to leave. Meanwhile, little TAKA, who had been waiting at home, began guiding Kaito towards those thieves he had located around the city.

Still in the northern district, TAKA led Kaito to the first target—a black guy with an intimidating appearance that made people want to avoid him. Kaito casually trailed behind, activating his Observation Haki and sensing that the guy had women's underwear stuffed in a bulging backpack. His expression turned strange. [Why do I keep encountering sleazy guys? Do I have some kind of gay attribute?]

With such wild thoughts, Kaito wasted no time. He rushed forward, and before the guy could react, Kaito smashed his head against the wall with a satisfying thud. The bulky man promptly fell unconscious. Kaito scattered the women's underwear from the backpack over him and left without calling the police because he knew that such cases were difficult for officers to handle.

As for whether he might have made a mistake, the system notifications would keep him informed. After all, a man carrying a backpack full of women's underwear was definitely up to no good, so he didn't feel guilty about his actions.

[Stopped the third unfinished crime; 7 remain.] Yes! Hearing the system's notification in his mind confirmed Kaito's hunch. He quickly said to TAKA, who was still circling overhead, "TAKA, hurry up and take me to the next guy!"

For the next while, Kaito utilized TAKA's facial recognition system, successfully preventing the remaining seven crimes before 8:30 PM. TAKA had identified 28 potential suspects, and Kaito managed to subdue all of them in the end; the odds were slim, and he had to ensure none of them saw him.

Exhausted, Kaito returned home, had dinner, and then lay in bed, ready to hear the system's evaluation.

[Street Knight mission completed. Points earned: 10,000. Reward: Lucky Draw. Mission Evaluation: As a newly initiated Kamen Rider, you managed to complete the mission in the last hour. Listening to the system as it continued to issue tasks, Kaito couldn't help but pout. [They really don't let me rest for even a moment,] he silently complained, then closed his eyes to end a tiring day.

"Just one more chapter to write later. Let me grab a meal and exercise first; I've put on a bit of weight lately and need to slim down!"
