Nathenel was quite surprised and a little bewitched at Susan's today's appearance, so he took a moment to gather his composure before moving ahead. The complacent man that he was would have considered it as Susan's way of appealing to him, because she was aware that he had lost interest to the extent of calling off their engagement, or perhaps she did it out if gratitude that he had not called it off as yet.
