Lactia was the main source of sugar for the Endora Empire. The climate was suitable for the sugar canes, and yet, due to unforeseen circumstances, the sugar harvest was lacking. She looked at the front of the newspaper. She looked expressionless.
That was the reason the envoys wouldn't be arriving.
"Did you contact the Countess?" Lumielle asked as Evangeline passed her two large brown satchels of pure gold coins. Good, it seemed that her wealth would still be a reliable asset.
"Then, I suppose we should start. Shouldn't we?" Lumielle queried. Placing down her newspaper she stood up. Nobles were growing anxious as their palates had become accustomed to confectionary tastes. Peasants who needed sugar were starting to grow angry at the Emperor's ineptitude. It wasn't as if Eldridge could grow sugar.
Then again, the more they distrusted him the better.
