For those who like strategy battles in detail, this would be the story for you. Also, as the story progress, it will get more scenes that might be difficult for some people, so be warned. ------------------------------------------------------------- Cover art and card design are original work of mine.

Plants Vs Zombies Part 5

"What luck you have."

Sharon's praise might be able to be thought of as mockery, however, it surely sometimes felt like overrated luck when Ahli got his hand on the right card for the right situation. Even Ahli himself felt the same as if everything was already designed to be as it was.

"I know, sometimes it is scary, now that you've mentioned it." Ahli stared at Reap What Was Sowed, as he remembered all the things that happened with the cards. All now felt it was no coincidence.

REAP WHAT WAS SOWED

5+Wood Mana+Wood Mana

[Magic Spell]

For each enemy unit, create a 2/2 plant creature. Each attacks an enemy unit.

Mana: Wood

"Well, I would like to say mathematics equation play a part in it, but I'll guess I really need to consider that divine intervention."

Ahli looked toward the army of ghouls and skeletons that were marching toward them. They were still walking steadily as they closed their distance.

"ROGIA NOPRE!"

The yell was quite fainted as it sound like coming from afar, however, Ahli knew for sure it was coming from the direction of the necromancer. Ahli and Sharon both turned to check him and they saw how he sent purple lightning to the ground, which then traveled on it, flowing toward Ahli and Sharon.

"Watch out!" Sharon reacted immediately as she saw the lightning coming at them, however, she was too late as the lightning movement was faster than hers.

To the surprise of both of them, the lightning passed them and went straight toward the skeleton army. When it reached their feet, it started to dance and crawled through their body. Ahli checked their stats and saw how it had been boosted from 1/1 into 2/2. With that, all the ghouls and skeletons combined would be a 2/2 army, which in a way, sounds perfect for Reap What Was Sowed.

As the purple lightning sparks gradually gone from sight, Ahli saw how the front skeletons took a stance and readied themselves for a dash. For Ahli himself, he just knew that it was time for him to cast Reap What Was Sowed.

"Get ready Sharon, here they come."

"Yeah, you sure it will work? That one card?"

"I sure of it. Because I never thought this card would be useful for this kind of situation."

Ahli held in his hand Dew of Life. Thinking how a few moments ago, he regretted on having it in his hand, at that moment then, the card played an important role as being the seventh mana source that will give access for Ahli to cast Reap What Was Sowed.

DEW OF LIFE

Wood Mana+Wood Mana

[Magic Spell]

You gain 1 life for each wood spell in effect.

Mana: Wood

"I set Dew of Life as a mana source."

As he gave that command, the card immediately transformed into a green shard, joining the rest, hovering around Ahli.

"HERE THEY COME!"

As Sharon shouted, Ahli saw all the skeletons start to run at them. They came fast in a straight line like an arrow piercing the air.

<TURN 11>

Ahli pulled Reap What Was Sowed from his hand and threw it to the sky.

"PAY ALL SEVEN MANA AND ACTIVATE REAP WHAT WAS SOWED!"

With him finished shouting his command, all the seven shards quickly transformed into their respective color lights and flew to envelop Reap What Was Sowed. The light then separated into multiple beams like a blast of a firework. Ahli could not count how many were them as they were too many, but he was sure that the amount would be the same or at least as many as the ghouls and skeletons in the area.

It entered the ground and then in front of each skeleton and ghouls, the ground in front of them exploded, with root-humanoid creatures appearing from it, jumping on the oppositions. They started to attack the ghouls and skeleton with punches, kicks, slams, and even tackles.

Ahli saw how the plant creatures had given quite a surprise attack on the skeleton and ghouls. For most ghouls that were slow, the plants were able to destroy them immediately without any fight. For the skeletons, a few of them were not prepared with surprise and ended the same as the ghouls, yet, there were some who did not budge with the surprise and exchanged blows with the plants. With the same power that they had, it perished at the same time for their end fate.

When seeing it at a glance, the upper hand might be on Ahli's side, however, it was not 100% true. There were also some elite skeletons that were able to out-maneuver the plant creatures and won their battle. Also, in terms of number, because of the range of the spell, it was as predicted, the number of plants was less than the total of ghouls and skeletons. With that, some plants were defeated when multiple ghouls ganged up on them.

"Okay, that should hold them for now. We need to kill the necromancer to end this."

"Wanna do it like the goblins?" Asked Sharon with a big smile on her face, as if notifying Ahli if they lose in this battle, at least they did it with excellent coordination like how they first met.

"Yeah, let's do it like the goblins."

With weapons prepared at hand, both of them dashed toward the necromancer.

<TURN 12>

With them closing in, and another turn had started, Ahli saw the new card that flew into his hand.

ABRASION

X+Fire Mana

[Magic Spell]

Destroy X inanimate object.

Mana: Fire

He was not sure how to use it in that situation, however, he kept it as he did not really need any more mana source at the time. Instead, he pulled Jena's Pendant and cast it as the extra mana source.

"Pay 2 Fire mana to use Jena's Pendant."

With the command, two shards enveloped the card and as it disappeared, the pendant appeared hanging on Ahli's neck.

JENA'S PENDANT

2

[ARTIFACT]

Use this artifact to produce 2 mana.

"Hey, Sharon! Don't get too far yet!"

"WHY?"

"I'm buffing you!"

Ahli pulled another card from his hand, a wood card. He threw it toward Sharon's direction as he cast it.

"Pay one wood mana to activate Might of the Forest. Target unit, Sharon!"

MIGHT OF THE FOREST

Wood Mana

[Enchant Magic]

Use on target unit.

It gets +1/+1 for each wood spell in effect.

Mana: Wood

As the card activated, Ahli saw how an illusion of a giant tree appeared on Sharon's path. As she run passed it, her body started to glow with green light. And with that, her run became faster than before. With the extra speed, she was leaving Ahli once again, as she was closing her distance with the necromancer.

What Ahli did not pay attention however, was the necromancer himself. As just the effect of Might of the Forest in progress, a purple fireball was flying toward Ahli. To his surprise, he was able to avoid it, however as it was so sudden, he was still caught by some of its flames, making his life go down, from 4 to 2 points left.

The necromancer kept on attacking them with a barrage of multiple spells. From purple lightning, purple beam, and of course another purple fireball. Lucky enough that he was not summoning any more ghouls or skeletons to be his bodyguard. He seemed to be occupied too much with Ahli and Sharon closing in, and the spell might be taking too long for him to cast.

Even so, for Ahli, with the counterattack from the necromancer, it made even harder to reach him and Sharon. And with that, his distance from both of them became further apart. Ahli saw how Sharon with her maneuver, was able to dodge every attack sent to her, while gradually closing her distance. After a series of zig-zag, jumps, and dodge, finally, she caught up to him.

Sharon leaped from her position toward the necromancer with her sword held high, preparing to slash down the necromancer. As it almost hit the necromancer, suddenly her sword was blocked by another piece of metal. The blow made Sharon pushed to the back, yet, she was able to land firmly. There in front of her was a knight's armor.

Ahli quickly checked on the stats and saw that the unit name is a ghoul knight. With the fact that it was a knight, Ahli knew that this could be a bothersome opponent. Especially with the fact that it has a 3/4 stats, higher than most ghouls, as well as the skill of its living counterpart. He looked at the two cards in his hand, which was Impetus and Abrasion. With that he knew that he must count on the proper sequence of these two cards to win the battle. The only problem was the distance between him and them. And so, he started to accelarate his run toward them.

<TURN 13>

Yeah, the battle might felt dragging by now, however I did not want the necromancer to end so easily, therefore sorry if it takes too long.
