Urgent Quest part 1

Midnight on the 24th of July exactly 12:30 am.

On top of the city wall of Blue Rose, surrounded by a horde of grotesque monsters known as Ambist. On top of the wall, countless magic lamp posts illuminate the place from the darkness of the night.

A city guard named Alten and Jord were just doing their daily duty as city guards, which was to watch the horde of Ambist for any unusual movement of the horde and report it to their superiors.

"This is odd, the horde started to increase a week ago," Alten said while observing the horde of monsters using a magic item, night-vision glasses.

"Hey, Alton want some?" Jord shouted while climbing the stairs 50 meters away from him, on his hand, he was holding a mug of coffee.

Alton turned his night vision off and shouted back," Get me one, black, no sugar."

A few minutes later, Jord and Alton were quietly drinking their coffee while sitting at a portable desk, Alton brought the portable desk from the barracks just a hundred meters away from their location.

Sigh! "What a lovely night," Alton said while gazing at the beautiful moon hiding behind the clouds.

"That's true if these ugly pests don't visit us every night," Jord said while his gaze focused on the horde of grotesque Ambist.

Amidst the soft howl of the Horde of Ambist and the cold and refreshing breeze of the night, Jord and Alton kept doing their duty while appreciating the beauty of the night.

But it did not last long, Jord who was watching the horde of Ambists saw a red glow inside the forest that kept getting closer and closer.

Seeing this glow, his pupils shrunk in terror.

He instinctively elbowed Alton's stomach.

Alton who was drinking his coffee while watching the moon, received a strong elbow on his stomach making him spit his coffee.

Alton angrily grabs Jord's head and says with veins visible on his forehead, "Bastard! Why are you elbowing me, if you don't give me a good reason I might throw you at the horde."

Jord ignored Alton's angry shout and just pointed at the red glow in the forest with a horrified expression.

Alton noticed this and followed what Jord pointing at.

The moment Alton saw the Red glow coming from the forest, he couldn't help to curse, "Oh, shit! we're done for."

When his words fell, countless red lights emerged from the forest, signaling the start of a disaster.

Early in the morning at exactly 5:00 am

Clang! Clang! Clang!

In deep slumber, I can hear a constant clanging of bells, even so, I ignored it and tried to fall asleep again.

Before I could fall into dreamland.

Someone started to shake me awake, a sweet voice entered my ears.

"John, wake up, John wake up, something bad happened, John!"

I groggily opened my eyes and stood up to stretch my body.

I looked around the room and saw Luciada with a red face.

I tilted my head playing ignorance and spoke," What's the red face?"

"Nothing just put on some clothes," Luciada said while covering her eyes from my defined muscle.

Hearing this I chuckle and put on a shirt, I have a hobbit of sleeping without wearing any upper clothes.

"Sorry about that, So why did you wake me up?"

Before Luciada could respond, an explosion occurred a dozen kilometers away creating a loud sound.

Boom!

Luciada gulped in surprise, on the other hand, I was unfaced, I saw a bigger explosion in my heyday.

"So, what is happening Luciada?"

"Umm, I don't know the specifics, but the guild announced that war was coming, and all adventurers needed to report to the guild ASAP," Luciada explained.

"What would happen if we don't go?"

"Nothing it was voluntary, however, I heard from the taverns that adventurers always mock their fellow adventurers who didn't go and give them the nickname cowards or something," Luciada said in her thoughtful gesture.

"Oh well let's go then, our plans for today are canceled."

"Here Luciada, you need this," I spoke while handing her a handgun which was in the Laser Gun category.

"It's this a laser gun?" Luciada ask.

"Yes."

"It looks weird," Luciada said while aiming the thing trying to test if the laser gun fits her.

A few hours later

We arrived at the guild and the first thing that greeted us was a large crowd of adventurers gathering in front of the guild.

The guild front has a very large open area that could accommodate thousands of people.

Near the doors of the guild building, a wooden stage was built and that stage is the focus of attention at this moment.

Every adventurer gathered here is looking at the stage while discussing some rumors.

"Hey dude, do you know what's going on?" random adventurer 1.

"Nope, no idea," random adventurer 2.

"Old man, you are always updated in the news, so can you tell us what you know?" random adventurer 3.

Random adventurer 4 shrugged and said, "I don't know either, but I have some important info."

"What it is old man," random adventurer 5.

Random Adventurer 4 thought for a moment and then turned his head to a beautiful girl and said, "Tina, can you tell them what I told you, I already forgot it."

Random Adventurers 3 and 5 simultaneously think, [is this guy active, if it does it would be a disaster].

Random Adventurer 6 sighed and spoke, "Last night, a war happened, and one of the Captains moved to suppress it."

Everyone who heard it gasped.

Random Adventurer 6 continued, "That's not all, 2-star hunter Lady Rose also moved that night."

Murmurs continue to spread among the crowds.

Where did I hear those terms? I ask inside my mind while listening to the crowd's discussion.

While I was in deep thought, Luciada who stood right beside me pulled the sleeves of my black coat slightly, and said, "John, it's starting."

I snapped out of my thoughts and turned my attention towards the stage.

There I saw, three men and two beautiful ladies climbing up on the stage.

Two of the men are not worth mentioning even though their clothes are nice and expensive their attitudes ruin them, especially those punchable faces that show arrogance and disgusting smiles. Behind the two useless guys, there is a handsome guy with white hair and blue eyes, he is wearing a black suit.

One of the girls was someone I knew, well not a friend but an acquaintance, she was the beautiful Captain Seria that I met in the interrogation room, her straight waist-length blue hair like the sky flowing freely in her back and clear blue eyes, her voluptuous body was clad in her red military outfit and a sword hanging at her waist.

The other girl right beside her is also beautiful, on the same level as her, she has curly sky-blue hair that flows down the way to her waist, she has a voluptuous body, and a large chest that is bigger than my head on the F-cup level, the girl was clad in simple clothes consisting of a dark blue skirt emphasizing her thick legs and a white shirt that threatened to break because of her large assets.

One of the two useless guys stepped forward took out a small magic item that looked like a microphone and started his speech.

He starts his speech with his name which is Fess Terroy and his identity as the Guild Master of this Guild Brunch followed by empty promises and good words like a good politician, his image right now is great like a kind boss, but in my eyes, he is just a pig trying to look good.

Every adventurer except for the higher-ranking ones listens to him attentively. In contrast, the adventurer with a high rank and adventurer who could see the guild master bullshit just ignores his words and pretend that they are listening.

In the middle of his speech, I got bored and just started to look around checking the strength of all the adventurers here to kill some time, Luciada on the other got bored too and just took out a headset from her storage device which is her bracelet and started to listen to some music.

The adventurers around us notice what we are doing and show some displeased expressions while the first-class adventurers only give a look of pity and just signal me with their lips, "Just pretend to listen."

Seeing this I sighed and ignored them, if they tried something funny I would just knock them all up with a punch, I would give them a warning now if my bloodlust did not suddenly weaken and disappear just yesterday, this troublesome bottleneck in getting on my nerves.

Also, my strengths weakened, and my relaxed state with a power of level 4 physique weakened to level 2 just earlier.

My overall strength right now is.

Relax/normal state: Level 2 with op magic and combat techniques.

True strength: Forbidden level.

The Guild Master continued his speech for 2 hours before he finished.

"That's all thank you for listening and now the Branch manager of the Hunters Association sir Victor Elgreenrod will give us some important information," the Guild master ended his speech with a kind smile, but I could feel the guy's animosity towards the Branch Manager as clear as day. the handsome white hair guy who wore a black suit was the Branch Manager himself.

Luciada also noticed this and whispered, "pathetic."

Even though she said that in a low voice, I could still hear her words, thanks to my sharp hearing.

On stage, I Could see Captain Seria rolling her eyes multiple times.

The girl with curly sky-blue hair standing beside Captain Seria only shows a gentle smile Ignoring the guy.

The Branch Manager didn't react or anything, he only nodded his head and just stepped forward and started to talk while enhancing his voice with aura/life energy using a technique called Nen.

Seeing this, I couldn't help to reveal a crazy smile.

"Now I can confirm it, my involvement in those things," I whispered while looking at the sky, gazing at the castle with unfathomable size that occupied most of the sky.

Luciada noticing my smile stepped back a bit, this was her first time seeing me like this.

Back to the stage.

"Hello, I won't beat around the bush," the Branch Manager said with a cold tone without introducing himself or anything and just going straight to the topic

"Last night, a horde of Ambist made an offensive at the northwest wall and managed to break through it."

"Luckily no one died or got hurt."

"Thanks to the city guards, adventurers, and hunters who fought last night."

"As we speak the city walls are fixed by the Mage squadron of knights Order while the hunters are helping them strengthen the city walls."

"That's all if you want more information, we already posted it on our bulletin board scattered all around the city, we also give that information to the guild so don't worry."

"Before I end this, do you have any questions?"

The moment his last words fell, an adventurer shouted angrily.

"Why didn't you inform the guild and knights way sooner? Don't the Hunters already know that this would happen so why?" asks an adventurer with a rough and angry voice full of hatred.

When his questions fell the adventurer started to gossip.

"Isn't that Torh?"

"Yes, I heard he lost his house in that disaster last night."

"He must be carrying hatred towards the hunters."

…

I could see through his poor acting skill, that this guy was hired to cause trouble, I can't help to say in my mind, [Politics].

Luciada who was right beside me was frowning, she could see that the guy asking the question was paid by someone to cause some trouble to the branch manager.

The Branch Manager answered with a cold voice, "You already know, so don't escalate things, I might just ignore this city and write it on the hunter's Blacklist, so kid, don't push your luck, I would not guarantee that this city can survive a year with no casualties without our assistance, you don't want to be known by the people as the foolish man that brings disaster to the city right?"

The Crowd went silent upon hearing this, even though the crowd didn't know the ins and outs of politics, but they knew that the Branch Manager had good reason to do so whether it was because of private or public affairs.

Seeing the crowd silent, the Branch manager stepped back and let the next person speak.

Captain Seria and the beautiful girl with curly blue hair step forward.

Captain Seria enhanced her voice with mana then spoke, "Ok, I'm Seria captain of the 9th division and the girl right beside me was Teresa Rose a 2-star hunter known as the wise man.

When Teresa heard her title her face went dark, she is a girl why did she end up with a title-wise man, many people mistook her for a man when they heard her nickname because of this when they met her many people doubted her that she was the wise man and many just became shocked when they learn it was true.

The crowd cheered and their excitement skyrocketed, especially men, while girls on the other hand sighed in exasperation.
